MLabs is a forward-thinking AI research lab that focuses on the development of cutting-edge AI algorithms. We are currently looking for an experienced AI/Machine Learning Team Leader to become a valuable member of our team. This position is available full-time and provides flexibility and the opportunity to work remotely.

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be instrumental in advancing our research and development initiatives, and will play a pivotal role in innovating the foundations of Machine Learning. We are looking for an individual who can understand and extend our IP portfolio in the mathematics of AI. While the focus of our R&D activities is in deep learning, we require someone who is fluent in mathematics; and we would typically expect this role to be filled by a mathematician or physicist, although a computer scientist with very strong mathematical skills would also be of interest to us. Note that familiarity with ML libraries, or experience training NNs using off-the-shelf software is not by itself sufficient to qualify the candidate for the vacancy.

Successful candidates will join the team as a workstream leader, pioneering novel algorithms for AI and pushing the boundaries of knowledge in the field: developing mathematical solutions to complex problems and proving their practicality by implementing them in software, and systematically evaluating them against real-world datasets. The role will include technical leadership of a small team.

Requirements

• Must have a strong grasp of mathematics including linear algebra or probability theory, and at least one of optimization, graph theory, statistical pattern recognition, regression, combinatorics or algorithmics
• Must have formal training in Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science to at least degree level
• Must have a PhD in a relevant subject, or be otherwise able to demonstrate the ability to work independently, innovating solutions to complex problems
• Must be proficient in Python as a means of putting mathematical solutions into practice
• Must be a strong and effective communicator, with a portfolio of technical papers that can be shared with us
• Must have a software portfolio of examples of their own work that can be shared with us (a GitHub profile will suffice)
• Proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow or another relevant AI framework is preferred
• Previous experience in the practical use of AI/ML techniques is desirable
