Position Summary

In this role, the Data Engineer’s primary job responsibilities involve preparing data for analytical or operational uses. The specific tasks handled by the Data Engineers include, but are not limited to, building data pipelines to pull together information from different source systems; integrating, consolidating, and cleansing data; and structuring it for use in individual analytics applications. The Data Engineer often works as part of an analytics team in an individual contributor role, providing data aggregations to executives, business analysts, and other end users for more basic types of analysis to aid in ongoing operations.

Work Schedule: This role is offered on a fully remote basis allowing the Data Engineer to be based anywhere in the country.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Design, construct, install, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems.
  • Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices.
  • Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models, and proof of concepts.
  • Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data.
  • Lead and develop data set processes for data modeling, mining, and production.
  • Direct and integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.
  • Employ a variety of techniques and tools to marry systems together.
  • Recommend and execute ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
  • Collaborate with data architects, modelers, and IT team members on project goals.

Qualifications

  • Solid quantitative and analytical skills with ability to translate findings into meaningful information appropriate to the audience/stakeholders.
  • High level of comfort with financial, quality, clinical, and security data.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Agile Development process.
  • Relational database training and data modeling skills.
  • Demonstrated history of technology investigation, technology implementation, and technology oversight in various capacities.
  • Ability to understand and analyze user requirements as they relate to organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to switch quickly and comfortably between projects as business needs dictate.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to effectively collaborate across teams.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to work autonomously in a high production environment.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize work appropriately.

Education/Experience

  • Associate’s Degree from a four-year accredited College or University in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar technology bootcamp with 1-2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in database management and query tools, including SQL and/or other query languages.
  • Experience in Azure Data Factory and SSIS.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience required working with MS Office, i.e., Word, Outlook, and Excel's pivot tables, Lookups, and complex formulas.

Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Must pass a background check and drug screen.
