SUMMARY
The Major Gift Manager (MGM) is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors and prospects capable of making major gifts in support of Haven for Hope’s mission to transform lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. This position plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s philanthropic goals, working closely with the Chief Development Officer, President & CEO, Board members, and other stakeholders to strengthen relationships and secure significant contributions for Haven’s programs and priorities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Donor Relationship Management
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 75–100 major gift prospects with the capacity to give $25,000 or more annually.
- Build and deepen long-term relationships through personalized engagement, cultivation, and stewardship strategies.
- Develop tailored solicitation plans aligned with donor interests and Haven for Hope’s strategic priorities.
- Conduct regular donor visits, calls, and correspondence to advance relationships toward successful solicitations.
Strategic Fundraising
- Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and development team to set annual fundraising goals and strategies for major gifts.
- Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and impact reports for donor cultivation and solicitation.
- Participate in the development of campaigns (capital, endowment, or program-specific) as needed.
- Utilize data-driven insights to track progress and ensure timely follow-up on all donor activities.
Stewardship and Reporting
- Ensure all donor interactions and moves are documented in SalesForce in a timely and accurate manner.
- Coordinate with the Development Operations team to ensure accurate donor acknowledgment, recognition, and reporting.
- Provide regular portfolio updates, projections, and analysis to the Chief Development Officer.
Attend community events and represent Haven for Hope to strengthen visibility and donor engagement.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree required
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a focus on major gifts or individual giving.
- Demonstrated success securing gifts of $25,000 and above.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience with SalesForce or comparable donor management software preferred.
