Overview of role:

WestJet is seeking a Technical Publications Specialist to join our team for an 18-month term. This individual will exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Aircraft Engineering Programs, the Technical Publications Specialist is responsible for the development, administration, and maintenance of publications in accordance with the Technical Operations and Transport Canada requirements

 

Key deliverables include:

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and collaborate with stakeholders in developing, authoring, and publishing documentation in structured and unstructured authoring formats in accordance with Technical Operations and Transport Canada CARs requirements
  • Work with OEM vendors to obtain and maintain login access to the required documents for supporting the fleets operated and maintained by the WestJet Group of Companies
  • Manage applications to publish documentation in different formats including PDF, HTML, and SGML/XML
  • Oversee, coordinate, and complete administrative activities related to the production of publications
  • Maintain the digital delivery of documentation to end users
  • Manage source files and acquire content approvals from publication owners and stakeholders
  • Assist in managing the technical library for Technical Operations, Transport Canada, and vendors

 

Experience and qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Technical Communications, journalism, or communications
  • Minimum one(1) to three (3) years of experience writing technical documents
  • Experience in process and procedural documentation, writing technical documents and maintenance of documents and manuals subject to peri
  • Familiar working with digital data files such as ASCII, Excel. SGML, XML 5 and experience with maintaining publication revision control
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, goal orientated, and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to present ideas, negotiate, facilitate and problem solve
  • Team player – works to ensure team goals are met or exceeded
  • Exceptional attention to detail
