Project Overview
iParametrics is seeking an Electrical Cost Estimator to support a mission-critical construction program near Sunnyvale, CA. This role will work within the Estimating Department, reporting to the Cost Manager or Project Manager, and will focus specifically on preparing accurate electrical estimates, analyzing project documents, validating proposals, and tracking costs throughout the project lifecycle. This is a fully in-office position and requires a detail-oriented professional with proven electrical estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction.
Role’s Responsibilities
Analyze project design and construction documents to develop electrical scope estimates.
Perform detailed on-screen take-offs of electrical material quantities.
Review subcontractor and vendor cost proposals for accuracy and completeness.
Set up and maintain job cost reports, including budgets, commitments, forecasts, contingencies, and actual spends.
Track costs by bid package, field order, and specific change categories as required by the client.
Prepare and manage cost authorization packages and monthly reconciliations.
Summarize and present material quantities and costs in a clear, organized format.
Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure alignment with budget and scope.
Assist in maintaining project indicators and cost dashboards, including visual graphics.
Must Have Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent field work experience.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of electrical construction estimating experience (commercial or industrial required).
Experience with industrial, hi-tech, or semiconductor manufacturing projects.
Software Knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
Skill: Ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
Skill: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage cost data accurately and efficiently.
Skill: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with project management tools such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, MS Project, or Primavera P6.
Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
Knowledge of the CSI specification system.
LEED Accredited Professional, or ability to achieve accreditation within 18 months.
Strong understanding of all aspects of low-voltage electrical construction.
