Job Description

Danfoss in Plymouth, Minnesota is seeking a Contract Test Technician to join our New Product Development Testing team. The Test Technician performs a variety of duties essential to the preparation, setup, and operation of environmental and design validation tests. This position is also responsible for documentation of test results and maintaining work areas, test stands and the test lab in a neat and orderly manner. Accomplishes the testing tasks in a cost-effective and timely manner.  May assist sales, production, quality or procurement in technical matters. The Test Technician will work in the CCS (Connect & Control Solutions) Business Unit and report to the Lab Coordinator and Director of Engineering

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts analysis and testing for the validation of products and checks validity of test results.  Takes action to fix any inconsistencies with test equipment via maintenance and calibration
  • Set up and conduct product qualification tests according to internal test procedures and industry standards. Tests to include (but not limited to):
    • Electrical performance testing
    • Electrostatic discharge
    • Temperature and humidity sweeps
    • Vibration testing and analysis
    • Life-Cycle Testing
    • Ingress Protection Testing
    • Stress Testing
    • Material Testing

  • Able to work independently on complex assignments.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to complete assignments/tasks on time while maintaining quality and integrity.
  • Assists sales, marketing, service, production, drafting, design, procurement, supplier and operations personnel in technical matter and direction.
  • Responds with commitment and sensitivity to satisfying the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Promotes quality and continuous improvement philosophy.
  • Applies creative approaches and ideas to solving problems, maximizing effective use of appropriate resources.
  • Maintains cooperative and productive working relationships and communications with all employees.  Facilitate cross-functional discussions.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) year technical degree in a related field or three (3) to five (5) years industry experience.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete tasks efficiently and on time.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW is a plus.
  • Is competent with hand tools and machine tools.
  • Soldering proficiency is a plus

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information to development engineers, production operators, management teams and public groups.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrate good problem solving, communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in approach and ideas.
  • Responds positively and supports changes in procedures, process, technology, responsibility, and assignments.
  • Demonstrates advanced interpersonal skills.
