Your Role at KIK
The Electromechanical Technician is responsible for scheduling and performing routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment. You will perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic and identifies and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner. We are looking for a talented Electro-Mechanical Technician who has experience with electrical maintenance, instrumentation, and machine repair. This individual will also excel in software use and documentation.
This role is based on site at our Chicago, Illinois facility and is a 1st Shift position with the hours of 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday and will require Overtime as needed. The pay for this position is $42.75/hr.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing
Electrical Maintenance & Repair: Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and install various electrical equipment such as motors, breakers, transformers, switches, relays, wiring, PLCs, lighting, UPS.
Instrumentation: Maintain and calibrate instrumentation devices like transmitters, valves, flow meters, and sensors.
Work Management: Complete and prioritize work orders related to control systems, motors, and mechanical equipment.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve electrical, motor, and control system issues, including testing and evaluating system health and safety.
Technical Communication: Discuss technical issues professionally, especially during equipment breakdowns or meetings.
Software Use: Utilize MS Windows, Excel, AutoCAD and industrial software, daily.
Team Collaboration: Assist maintenance mechanics and collaborate with engineering, project management, and operators.
Documentation: Follow technical manuals, document changes, and maintain records for troubleshooting and setup. Assist in maintaining electrical schematics and update where needed.
Preventive Maintenance: Perform regular checks, lubrication, adjustments, and machine start-ups to optimize operations.
Electrical Installation: Handle installation, modification, and repair of electrical systems, including conduit work and panel repairs.
Control Systems: Maintain and calibrate programmable control equipment and troubleshoot using PLCs. Understand12/24VDC & 120VAC for control circuits.
Power Distribution & Wiring: Read schematics, understand industrial power distribution, and VFD wiring. 240 and 480 VACS
Tools & Equipment: Operate power tools safely and effectively.
Safety & Standards: Follow EPA, OSHA, NFPA70, and other safety standards and perform root cause analysis. Knowledge of E-Stops and other Safety Circuits
Inventory & Administrative Tasks: Manage parts supplies, prepare documentation, and handle administrative duties.
Continuous Improvement: Strive for operational excellence and safety compliance, participate in projects, and perform miscellaneous duties as directed. Perform variety of administrative duties and work on projects as assigned.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
Associate degree in Electronics or Electrical Technology OR Certificate/Diploma with 2 or more years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting is strongly preferred.
Alternatively, 3+ years of proven hands-on experience in a related field is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of ladder logic, function block programming, PLC hardware, and tagging structures.
Familiarity with Rockwell Automation software.
Working knowledge of industrial networking and control systems.
Ability to use hand tools and work in physically demanding environments (bend, twist, lift to 60 lbs.)
Comfortable working in an indoor/outdoor industrial environment, including areas requiring respirator protection.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and Lockout Procedures.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint).
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules as needed.
