COMMENTS: The Cost Analyst will work for Mizkan America, Inc. at the Schaumburg location. This position will report to the Sr. COPA Manager. This job description reflects assignment of essential functions. It does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that the assignments.

 

SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining general ledger accounts and performing accounting tasks for Manufacturing Operations, such as updating ledger accounts and preparing monthly reports. Prepares necessary information for month end close, financial and/or management reporting, budgets, and other F & A needs.  Understanding on GRNI (Goods Received not Invoiced) to optimize discounts and process payments accurately and timely. Constant interaction with the plants and the procurement team to resolve quantity and pricing issues is a must. Documents and maintains processes that ensure appropriate internal controls are established.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Incorporate Business Intelligence (BI) and digitalization into your financial reporting using Dynamics 365 (D365) and other data models.
  • Implement automation to streamline the data collection and reporting process for controlling activities.
  • Be able to leverage insights gained from BI tools to make informed reports, including trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform period-end financial closing responsibilities, including preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and resolving reconciling items.
  • Prepare month end reporting and reconciliation related responsibilities.
  • Assist in monthly and annual physical inventory counts as well as reporting and analysis.
  • Assist in providing documentation and work papers requested by external and internal auditors.
  • Work closely with the plant controlling [Signature Brands & Commercial Brands] and operations management teams to deliver annual budget and costing templates needed to create Standard cost in ERP system.
  • Assist in the analysis of business results and General Ledger accounts, recommending actions to maintain controls and deliver business results.
  • Co-lead all new product costing estimates/calculations in D365 for the mid-year and annual cost roll.
  • Assist with collecting and reporting financial and operational information to plants and corporate management.
  • Support Accounts Payable Department with entering and reconciling inventory and non-inventory invoices into Coupa and D365.
  • Assist with Received not Invoiced (GRNI) analysis in all systems including P2P platform.
  • Respond timely to requests for information from management, auditors, or other business units.
  • Assist and participate maintaining fixed assets book and tax records including CIP, additions/disposals, and depreciation expense.
  • Partner in managing fixed assets Project order management (creation, funding, tracking, closing) and report variances.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist the manufacturing plants with Capital Project proposals, track progress of approvals, and actual / forecasts spending vs authorized amounts.
  • Assist with mid and annual financial audits.
  • Act as back up to co-workers within the department.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department and process improvements.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of related accounting experience required.
  • Experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in D365 F&O ERP system, strongly preferred.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience in practical application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Strong AP experienced 3-way match - Microsoft Dynamic 365 preferred.
  • Highly organized, strong attention to detail.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $82,000 - $117,000.

 

Compensation is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Short-Term Incentive and other forms of compensation may also be provided as part of a total compensation package.
