SUMMARY: The General Ledger Supervisor will play a key role in overseeing daily accounting operations and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial data. This role is responsible for supervising the general ledger team, maintaining accurate financial records and month-end accruals, supporting monthly and year-end close processes, and key coordinator of related audit requests. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with other business units.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the general ledger team, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Review and approve GL postings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper accounting treatment.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes and maintain the month-end close checklist.
  • Coordinate month-end accruals and support Procurement team with timely closure of purchase orders. 
  • Coordinate key balance sheet review meetings and timely issue related variance analysis reports.
  • Oversee the preparation of all bank account reconciliations and lead efforts for any reconciling items.
  • Support the General Account Manager with lease accounting matters under US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Ensure all prepaid general ledger accounts and accrual general ledger accounts (vendors, insurance, employee benefit accruals) are timely recorded and amortized according to supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external audit requirements.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, audit schedules, and regulatory filings.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and drive automation or efficiency initiatives.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management for staff accountants.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, IFRS and internal controls.
  • Prior experience in the food industry (CPG, food manufacturing, foodservice, or distribution) is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft D365 is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with reporting tools (Power BI) is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $82,400 - $117,000.

 

Compensation is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Short-Term Incentive and other forms of compensation may also be provided as part of a total compensation package.
