The Manager of Community Engagement plays a pivotal role in building and sustaining strong relationships with key community stakeholders, partners, and organizations that align with the mission and strategic priorities of the health plan. This position is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and participating in community-based events, sponsorship opportunities, and marketing activities that promote brand awareness, support member growth, and strengthen the health plan’s presence in the communities it serves.Acting as a visible and trusted representative of the organization, the Manager engages with diverse audiences to elevate the organization’s profile and ensure its services are known, accessible, and valued throughout the community.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, faith-based groups, advocacy organizations, and other stakeholders across the region.
- Identify high-impact community events, sponsorship opportunities, and initiatives that align with the health plan’s strategic objectives, membership goals, and population health priorities.
- Represent the health plan at a wide range of community-based events, health fairs, local forums, cultural celebrations, and marketing activities to promote awareness of the organization's services and programs.
- Collaborate with internal departments—including Marketing, Sales, Compliance, and Government Affairs—to ensure community engagement efforts are aligned with business goals and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate event logistics, including staffing, materials, presentations, and follow-up, in collaboration with other departments and vendors.
- Support the development of outreach materials, talking points, and presentations to effectively communicate the health plan’s mission, services, and impact to community audiences.
- Regularly monitor and assess community engagement activities and partnerships to ensure ongoing alignment with strategic priorities and performance goals.
- Provide regular updates, summaries, and reports on community engagement initiatives, event outcomes, and partnership development.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training sessions and internal updates to build awareness of community initiatives across the organization.
- Maintain current knowledge of the health plan’s products, provider network, and health education resources to accurately represent the organization in the community.
- Attend evening and weekend events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
This role requires a high level of mobility and community visibility. It includes regular travel within local neighborhoods and regions, attendance at off-site events, and in-person engagement with community members and partners. The position is eligible for remote work but requires flexibility for in-person presence.
Required Education and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required: Marketing or Business Communication-preferred
- Five years’ experience in corporate community philanthropy, health or human service community programs, or related experience.-preferred
Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of the communities served by Health Partners Plans and Jefferson Health Plans
- Experience in marketing, outreach and/or community development.
- Excellent presentation skills
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Self-motivated
- Proven project management skills
- Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Salesforce
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bi-lingual preferred
