The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an Exhibition Design Assistant in its’ Exhibition Design and Production (ED&P) Department. Reporting to the Department Manager for ED&P, the Exhibition Design Assistant provides support to the Department's Exhibition Designers in producing the Museum’s exhibition program and provides administrative support to the Frame Shop.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Assists Exhibition Designers with model making and drafting plans, elevations, and fabrication documents.
- Maintains workflow and production spreadsheets.
- Assists Exhibition Designers with light tasks related to project management, including setting up meetings and contacting vendors.
- Assists with tracking exhibition project expenses, issuing production schedules, and maintaining exhibition records.
- Assists the Department Manager with framing estimates.
- Maintains physical models, ensuring that model-making supplies are organized and replenished, and the materials library.
- Administers the production schedule for Learning and Engagement programs.
- Works collaboratively and efficiently with key internal departments, including curatorial, Registrar, Conservation, Exhibition Planning and Administration, Graphic Design, A/V, Security, and Visitor Engagement, as well as outside contractors.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in art or a design-related field, and three years of relevant administrative support experience in an exhibition design, architecture, set design, or industrial design environment, or equivalent.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to efficiently manage several projects simultaneously at various phases.
- Ability to form and maintain successful working relationships with museum staff, designers, and artists.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and other standard office procedures and equipment. Knowledge of a 3-D rendering program is a plus.
- Knowledge of 20th- and 21st-century art preferred.
Salary: The salary for this position is $61,560 (gross) per annum
