HarmonyTech is seeking a Junior Business Developer to support our growth within the federal financial regulatory market. This entry-level role is ideal for someone eager to learn the federal acquisition environment, develop business development skills, and contribute to building HarmonyTech’s pipeline of opportunities. The Junior BD will focus on researching opportunities, tracking market intelligence, supporting capture activities, and assisting senior leadership in identifying and qualifying opportunities for pursuit.
Location: Fairfax, VA (Hybrid)
Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain federal government security clearance
Duties and Responsibilities
- Research federal opportunities (RFI, RFP, IDIQ, GWACs, task orders) and provide analysis to support decision-making.
- Identify potential leads, qualify opportunities, and maintain pipeline tracking.
- Assist in developing customer call plans and documenting key takeaways from meetings and industry events.
- Support the BD team by collecting and summarizing competitive intelligence, industry trends, and agency priorities.
- Engage with industry partners, small businesses, and teaming contacts to strengthen HarmonyTech’s network.
- Participate in business development strategy sessions and provide input based on research and market analysis.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring interns on the BD team.
- Represent HarmonyTech at networking and industry events, supporting brand visibility.
- Contribute to internal business operations such as updating CRM tools, SharePoint sites, and pipeline reports.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in business development or sales, preferably within the federal government contracting sector.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Ability to develop solutions to a variety of problems using sound judgment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience or coursework related to federal acquisition, procurement, or government contracting.
- Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., GovWin, Salesforce, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of federal socio-economic programs (8(a), WOSB, HUBZone, SDVOSB) and how they impact opportunity pursuit.
- Exposure to capture or business development methodologies (Shipley or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of federal agency missions, especially in the financial regulatory sector (OCC, FDIC, EXIM, IRS, CFPB).
