Job Description
This is a full time, non-exempt position.
Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced quality sensory technician with strong interpersonal skills and a growth mindset to join our global quality sensory team. Primary responsibilities include executing day-to-day skilled sensory tasks and assisting new quality sensory capability building with supervision.
The abilities to communicate and collaborate with other quality sensory team members and internal groups are critical for success in this role. Interest in evaluating ingredients and food products will be important to this role.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare samples and set up testing space for quality sensory evaluations.
- Prepare computer designs for data collection and study execution.
- Assist panel leader and scientists with project scheduling, panel management and trainings.
- Assist with accurately document or modify sensory protocols according to experimental specifications.
- Ability to identify gaps and make recommendations on laboratory and process improvements to enhance work safety and efficiency.
- Communicate with IT support, plant personnel, and research developers on issues with minimal scientist supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the quality sensory lab and panel room.
- Manage lab inventory of chemicals, equipment, consumables, references, and products.
- B.A. or B.S. degree with at least 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to follow instructions and testing procedures carefully.
- Basic understanding of the foundations of sensory science is a plus.
- Experience with Compusense Cloud data collection software is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
- Maintain housekeeping and follow safety standards in lab.
- Ability and willingness to evaluate ingredient and foods when needed
- Ability to function independently while interacting with ADM management, facility management, and ADM contract employees.
- Prioritization of tasks against available resources and time constraints.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving in team environments.
- Effective writing and oral communication skills.
- Resolves conflicts effectively to encourage teamwork, without breaking cohesion and trust.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Maintain confidential and highly sensitive information.
Physical Factors:
- Ability to sit in meetings, at desk or stand in lab for long periods.
- Ability to use standard office equipment.
