Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Senior Acquisition Test Engineer. This will be an on-site position located in Arlington VA.

 

Battelle’s Critical Infrastructure Business Line group is seeking a senior acquisition test engineer to lead the research, development, test and evaluation of security systems and technology for the Department of Homeland Security.  This is a full-time position, and the selected candidate will work in Battelle’s Crystal City Operations in Arlington, Virginia.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include leading test engineers in federal acquisition-based test planning, executing test methodologies, conducting data collection, reduction, and analysis, and producing technical reports. Applicable technical areas include non-intrusive inspection and associated scientific disciplines, physical security applications, command-and-control integration, human factors, operations research, statistics, and engineering. The candidate will be expected to train and provide day-to-day direction to junior staff to strengthen technical development and foster innovative processes.

Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities include conducting engineering design reviews, engaging with representatives of Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and working directly with vendors and stakeholders to enhance technologies and capabilities in developmental lifecycle support. The candidate should have a strong background in Test and Evaluation and a solid understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems. They may also participate in scientific conferences, support or lead technical proposal development, and generate white papers to explore further research opportunities.

 

Work will be performed in both laboratory and field settings. The candidate must interact directly with the client on a regular basis and should demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent computer proficiency, including expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Key Qualifications

  • The candidate must have at least a BS or BA in a technical discipline. An Engineering Degree is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering displine or similar with
  • Experience required is 10 years of technical work experience with a BS, 7 years with a MS, or 4 years with a PhD. 
  • The candidate must be able to travel, be a self-starter, and a team player.  Travel is expected to be up to 25%.
  • Sole US Citizenship with the eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance and to obtain TSA Security Suitability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess a MS or PhD level degree in an engineering or other technical field.
  • Already possess TSA Security Suitability and Secret Security Clearance.
  • Specific Federal Acquisition experience.
  • Experience in the test and evaluation of Transportation Security Equipment (TSE).
  • Defense Acquisition University (DAU) T&E Level I, II, and/or III certification (or equivalent)
  • Experience applying statistics to analyze and report test results.
  • Experience in formulating design of experimental methods
  • Experience designing and/or implementing data collection hardware and techniques.
