Safety Coordinator bei Weyerhaeuser

The Safety Coordinator position is located at the Dodson Lumber manufacturing facility in Dodson, Louisiana. This is an hourly position reporting to the Safety Manager. The Safety Coordinator works with the Safety Manager assisting in establishing reliable methods for improving safety performance; nourishing a culture in which safety is an overriding value in all activities and in which every team member assumes accountability for safety; and assuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Pay rate is $28.00 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:                           

• Work with the site Safety Manager to develop, implement, review, and continuously improve site safety and health programs to ensure compliance with company, federal, and state regulations
• Spend time on the mill floor to coach associations and focus on building safety culture.
• Perform administrative duties of the safety department (e.g., data entry, create/maintain training records, input to monthly safety scorecard, maintain employee involvement tracking, etc.)
• Perform plant inspections, audits, and safety checks as assigned
• Schedule and conduct various types of standard safety training, evaluations and recommend improvements
• Become an active member of the Dodson Safety Committee
• Administer drug and alcohol screens
• Assist with accident investigations
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends when needed 
• Administer First Aid and emergency care per developed protocols
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of safety related experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and accurate record keeping ability
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Direct and empathetic communication style 
• Ability to communicate with all levels of staff within the organization as well as external customers
• Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work accordingly.
• Ability to understand and interpret data while drawing logical conclusions based on available inputs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant Degree/certificate preferred
• CPR and 1st Aid Certifications
• Familiarity with OSHA standards.
• Certified Safety Professional certifications
