In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

The Liberal Arts and Sciences Student Office Assistant provides essential administrative and creative support to ensure the smooth daily operation of the LA&S office. This entry-level position is perfect for a motivated student looking to develop professional skills, contribute to a collaborative team environment, and gain valuable experience in an academic setting. You will work under the guidance of the Student Assistant Supervisor & Office Manager, supporting faculty, staff, and students with a variety of tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Liberal Arts and Sciences Student Office Assistant provides essential support to ensure the smooth daily operation of the LA&S office. This role is responsible for executing key administrative tasks, offering creative support for departmental projects, and contributing to a responsive and welcoming environment for faculty, staff, and students. Reporting to the Student Assistant Supervisor and Office Manager, this position is an excellent opportunity to develop professional skills, learn office management fundamentals, and become an integral part of an academic team. 

Administrative & Front Desk Support 

  • Serve as a welcoming first point of contact at the front desk, greeting visitors and answering phone calls.
  • Manage general email inquiries, responding professionally or directing them to the appropriate staff member. 
  • Assist with inventory management and organization of office supplies. 

Project & Communication Support 

  • Assist the Supervisor and Office Manager with the preparation of materials for events, meetings, and presentations. 
  • Utilize graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) to create posters, flyers, and digital content under guidance.
  • Provide basic support for departmental social media accounts and website updates.
  • Help with the setup and breakdown for LA&S co-curricular events and functions. 

Team Collaboration 

  • Work collaboratively with the supervisory team and other student assistants to complete shared tasks.
  • Take direction from the Student Assistant Supervisor & Office Manager, providing updates on task progress and asking questions as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned to support the daily functions of the department.

Required Skills and Knowledge: 

  • Current Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory undergraduate student in good academic standing. 
  • Strong desire to learn and develop professional office skills. 
  • Reliable, punctual, and demonstrates a strong work ethic. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; courteous and professional when interacting with faculty, staff, and peers. 
  • Basic organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks. 
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

Preferred Skills and Knowledge: 

  • An interest in graphic design, social media, or multimedia content creation. 
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or basic video editing tools.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on producing accurate work. 
  • Previous experience in a customer service or team-oriented environment is a plus, but not required.

Expected hours per week: 

  • Fall 2025: 5-10hrs as needed 
  • Spring 2025: 10-15hrs as needed
