Reporting to the Manager, Primary Care, Cancer Screening and Cancer Imaging and working within and across the RCP portfolios, the Regional Program Coordinator plays an important supportive role within the Regional Cancer Program (RCP), working across the cancer care spectrum from cancer screening to survivorship, supporting equity and access initiatives. Under the direction of the Manager and in collaboration with regional and provincial partners, the Coordinator will assist with the implementation and monitoring of key initiatives aligned with the Ontario Health-Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO) strategic priorities. A key part of the role will support the Ontario Breast Screening Program portfolio. 

Aligned with OH-CCO’s Ontario Cancer Plan, the RCP is dedicated to delivering the highest quality, compassionate, patient-centred cancer care that is designed to improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden of cancer. Areas of focus include supporting strategic initiatives to improve access, quality and sustainability along the cancer journey, and improve the quality and standardization of cancer care across the Region. 

This role is ideal for an early-career health system professional who is eager to contribute to improving access and equity across the cancer care spectrum, with opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) Support

  • Monitor and manage the OBSP program inbox, ensuring timely responses and follow-ups.
  • Assist with the coordination and submission of reports and planning templates to Ontario Health-CCO.
  • Support the scheduling and logistics for site visits and OBSP quality audits.
  • Track audit findings and assist in documentation and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and documentation required for compliance and reporting.
  • Work on initiatives to improve provincial scorecard indicators for the region

Equity and Access Initiatives

  • Support initiatives to improve equitable access across the cancer care spectrum, especially for underserved populations.
  • Assist with patient attachment processes and outreach efforts to improve participation in screening programs.
  • Help maintain communication with primary care providers and community partners regarding screening updates and opportunities.

Primary Care and Regional Integration Support

  • Contribute to planning and coordination of activities aimed at engaging primary care in cancer screening and early detection efforts.
  • Support regional cancer program meetings and working groups by preparing materials, taking notes, and assisting with follow-up actions.
  • Help compile regional performance data and assist in developing summaries or reports to inform strategy.

Administrative and Coordination Support

  • Maintain shared documents, databases, and project tracking tools.
  • Assist with the development and distribution of newsletters, communications, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Coordinate scheduling of meetings, webinars, and educational sessions for stakeholders.
  • Participate in quality improvement and data collection activities, as directed.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a health-related field (e.g., public health, health sciences, health administration, social sciences, or equivalent).
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare, public health, or not-for-profit setting; co-op or internship experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with cancer screening programs, Ontario Health -CCO processes, or healthcare quality improvement is an asset.
  • Familiarity or using ICMS would be an incredible asset 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams).
  • Demonstrated interest in health equity, community engagement, or healthcare access improvement.
