Research Assistant Opportunity

Project: Supporting Global Nursing Strategy & Engagement Initiative

Dr. Shehnaz Alidina and Ana Maldonado are seeking a Research Assistant to support the College of Nursing’s ongoing globalization work and the development of a strategy to guide these efforts. The college is engaged in a range of international activities, including student and faculty exchanges, research collaborations, and global partnerships. To support and strengthen this work, the College is developing a globalization strategy to shape its efforts for highest impact—aligned with its values, goals, and capacity.

The Research Assistant will contribute to the development of this strategy by supporting document reviews, organizing and documenting consultations, and participating in working group meetings. In addition to this strategic work, the student will also assist with a variety of tasks that strengthen the infrastructure for international engagement, such as mapping current activities, compiling exchange and funding opportunities, and supporting communications about global initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a scoping review of globalization strategies from U15 and leading international nursing schools
  • Organize consultation meetings with stakeholders and document feedback
  • Participate in globalization working group meetings and prepare meeting notes
  • Map current globalization activities and partnerships within the College of Nursing
  • Support the development of a centralized listing of international exchange opportunities for students.
  • Assist in the documentation of the “Global Nursing Passport” initiative
  • Support communications and promotion of existing student and faculty international engagement (e.g., website updates, success stories)
  • Perform other tasks as identified to advance global engagement efforts.

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong research and synthesis skills, especially in conducting literature and policy/environmental scans
  • Excellent written communication and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with global health, international education, or academic partnership development
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in global health, international nursing, or strategic planning in higher education
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and online survey or collaboration tools

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping the College’s approach to globalization while gaining experience in academic strategy development, international collaboration, and applied research support.

Required Number of Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week. Weekly hours may vary based on need.

Duration of Employment: September 2025 to December 2025
