Graduate Research Assistant Opportunity
Project: Supporting Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Activities

Dr. Alidina is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant to support the College of Nursing’s work in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). The College is committed to fostering a more inclusive, respectful, and accountable environment for students, faculty, and staff. Some initiatives including the creation of an EDI reporting and follow-up process, the development of an "Inclusion Pulse" survey, and EDI training efforts. The Research Assistant will contribute to both strategic and operational tasks, supporting the design of new processes and helping build infrastructure for inclusive systems and engagement.

This position may also interface with related work under the faculty engagement pillar, including research on onboarding and mentorship practices and supporting culture-building activities across the College.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design of an EDI reporting and follow-up process by conducting background research and documenting best practices
  • Assist in drafting and organizing process diagrams, tables, and supporting documentation
  • Participate in EDI and related working group meetings; prepare agendas and take meeting notes
  • Conduct background research on inclusion, bias reporting models, and accountability frameworks from other institutions.
  • Support the early development of the “Inclusion Pulse” survey by researching instruments and identifying key domains.
  • Assist with light administrative coordination (e.g., scheduling consultations, organizing working sessions)
  • Contribute to communication materials or visual tools (e.g., timelines, presentations) to support EDI work across the College
  • Perform other related tasks as identified to support inclusive systems, faculty engagement, and mentorship initiatives

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong research, synthesis, and writing skills
  • Ability to take clear, structured meeting notes and support follow-up documentation
  • Comfort working with visual materials such as process diagrams, charts, or slide decks
  • Familiarity with topics in equity, inclusion, and institutional change (experience with higher education an asset)
  • Ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with diverse individuals and teams
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and basic diagramming or survey tools
  • Interest in EDI, inclusive education, or faculty development in healthcare and academic settings

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful change within the College, while gaining experience in policy design, EDI planning, institutional research, and collaborative project implementation.

Required Number of Hours: Approximately 7 hours per week. Weekly hours may vary based on need.

Duration of Employment: September 2025 to December 2025
