POSITION SUMMARY:


The Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine (DUQCOM)invites applications for a medical school Clinical Affairs Coordinator. Thisposition requires someone who is professional, energetic, and highlyservice-oriented and will be responsible for assisting the COM team incoordinating clinical rotation education experiences for students incollaboration with clinical partners. The primary duty of the Clinical AffairsCoordinator is to maintain, process, and communicate information related to theclinical curriculum. The Clinical Affairs Coordinator ensures the completionand maintenance of clinical faculty (preceptor) and clinical site filesincluding agreements and faculty appointments and collaborates with regionalclinical site coordinators. The Clinical Affairs Coordinator ensures thecompletion and maintenance of student rotation schedules, evaluations, andcurricular materials. The qualified applicant must possess excellent communication,organization, multitasking, customer service, flexibility, and teamwork skills,and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to theDirector of Clinical Affairs.

DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and maintains syllabi, evaluations,schedules, etc. related to clinical course using approved software includingCanvas, One45 (AcuityInsights), and other software platforms used in thetracking and delivery of the clinical curriculum.

Collaborates with the Clinical Affairs department staff andfaculty including regional assistant deans, clinical site coordinators,clerkship directors, preceptors, medical registrar, students, and others in theCOM to ensure timely and accurate communication regarding student schedules,assignments, clinical curriculum, evaluation completion, and grading.

Works with clinical site coordinators to ensure that all studentshave core, selective, and elective rotations secured Ensures all necessarydocumentation and approvals are in place to support student elective andselective participation to include working with the Visiting Student LearningOpportunities (VSLO) process.

Organizes and maintains updated documentationrelated to clinical site partnerships including contacts, clinical faculty(preceptor) appointments, regional coordinator, assistant dean, and clerkshipdirector rosters.

Provides advising, training, and support to students and clinicalsite coordinators regarding clinical rotation site selection processes,scheduling, orientation, and processing.

Helps to administer and proctor examinationsincluding applicable NBOME COMAT examinations according to required protocols.

Assists with the planning, execution, andsummary reporting of clinical site partnerships and clinical education deliveryincluding reports needed for quality improvement, assessment activities, andaccreditation reporting.

Coordinates and disseminates a variety ofinternal and external communications and
records in support of the student’s clinicaleducational experiences. Accurately maintains current student records whilemaintaining confidentiality.

Provides day-to-day support to the ClinicalAffairs Department and other departments as needed throughout the COM as itrelates to clinical education functions.

Tracks, updates, and works with responsibleparties to achieve DUQCOM outcomes related to the Mission of the COM and theUniversity.

Participates in on and off-campus ClinicalSite Development and Education as needed.

Represents DUQCOM, the Department of ClinicalAffairs, and the University favorably following established core values andexpectations.

Participates in and helps coordinate on andoff-campus events related to the COM including White Coat Ceremony, Graduation,clinical site fairs, residency fairs, and other key events.

Works with the Director of Clinical Affairs toensure tracking of worked hours and payment to clinical site faculty and staffinvolved in education of DUQCOM students.

Works with the Department of Post-GraduateAffairs as needed to support continuing medical education programming, careercounseling resource development, and other needs of the department.

Serves on College and University Committees asassigned by the Dean. 

Completes otherduties as assigned.



REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’sdegree from an accredited institution

1+ years ofcustomer service experience

Attention to detail

Microsoft Office Suite expertise: Word,Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher as well as Outlook e-mail

Preferred qualifications:

1+ years of higher education-relatedwork experience preferred.

Alternately, thesuccessful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience andtraining, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required toperform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, thefollowing:

Ability to multi-task.

Knowledge of, or the abilityto learn internal University systems.

Willingness and ability to utilize newtechnologies relevant to the position.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the UniversityCommunity.
