Distribution Support Supervisor – Operations Technologies
JOB SUMMARY:
This Distribution Support Supervisor is responsible for leading a group of employees who develop and support multiple Operations Technology systems, data, and analytics used by Distribution. Some of these systems are NMS (TCMS), ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) damage assessment tools, and outage communication. The position is responsible for development, design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of applications. The position leads the team through projects involving both vendor and in-house solutions.
This Distribution Support Supervisor position is classified as a hybrid worker and will be expected to work in office and remotely, while leading a team of hybrid workers.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the direct supervision, performance management, and work direction of a group of highly skilled SMEs who maintain, upgrade, and implement critical Distribution Operations systems
- Support continued advances in diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Advanced knowledge of Distribution Systems and Operations
- Develop and execute annual work plans to meet business imperatives within capital and O&M budget targets
- Exhibit technical creativity, foresight, and a healthy willingness to challenge the status quo
- Ensure integrity of NMS model, configuration, and interfaces
- Responsible for NMS historical reporting, including data used by Reliability, Storm Center, and for regulatory filings.
- Lead the upgrades and deployment of new versions of NMS, ADMS, and other software tools.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships throughout Power Delivery, AFT, other operating companies, SCS, and with vendors
- Model and foster teamwork and cooperation within leadership structure and across opcos
- Work with other groups in Southern Company to openly share and collaborate on technology initiatives that support the Power Delivery technology priorities across SO
- Engage heavily in the transition to a Southern Company common Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).
- Coordinate with PD Operations Support, DSCADA, and cyber-security on issues that impact control center and field operations
- Work with the Technology Organization, Project Management Office, and vendors to develop and deploy new technology and applications used to support the safe and reliable operation of the electric system.
- Work with other groups in Southern Company to share technology initiatives
- The continuing challenges of this position are: 1) constantly developing knowledge on a wide range of distribution technology and 2) staying abreast of rapidly changing technology.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred
- Previous leadership experience preferred
- Previous experience in Operations or Distribution preferred
- Ability to lead, provide performance management, and direction to a group of highly technical employees while building bench strength in the organization
- Ability to work effectively between multiple organizations and vendors to deliver software solutions.
- Possess the knowledge, skills, and experience associated with the job responsibilities
- Travel is required on and off the system up to 25% of the time
