About the Department
This position will have a variety of duties that are listed, but they are not limited to those below. Greeting and assisting guest/citizens entering or calling the station, is of utmost importance. Strong customer service skills is a must. A willingness to learn and take instruction. Must be able to work in a structured environment, and respect firefighters daily schedules and tasks. Due to the nature of this environment, flexibility to adjust your work plan is a must.
Position Duties
o
Answer and assist with incoming phone calls
o
Greet and direct those entering the station; this could be citizens, co-workers, vendors, etc.
o
Assist in scheduling events for the Yukon Fire Department; this could be station tours, static displays, ride-a-longs, etc.
o
Assist in maintaining the department wide activity calendar
o
Assist in operating the department wide reporting system
o
Assist in putting together items for events or programs sponsored by the Yukon Fire Department or the City of Yukon
o
Assist all Administrative personnel as needed
o
Must have working knowledge and experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, this includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Email and Calendar; must be willing to learn other computer software as needed
o
Purchase Order Processing and Training Class enrollment when approved by the Fire Chief or Deputy Chief
o
Grant Management Assistance (Wal-Mart, AFG, Firehouse, Etc.)
o
Operate standard office equipment; phone, copier/fax, computer, scanner, etc.
o
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school, GED or work experience, clerical/administrative, office equipment operation, plus related experience and/or training.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence.
