Position: Director of Maintenance Reliability
Reports to: Director, Manufacturing
Location: Chicago, IL; Tacoma, WA; Plant City, FL; Cleburne, TX or Pulaski, VA.
Travel: Up to 50% to our manufacturing locations
Position Overview:
As the Director of Maintenance Reliability you will lead our company-wide reliability initiatives and elevate our maintenance performance across the network. This role reports directly to the Director, Manufacturing and plays a critical role in aligning maintenance strategies with operational excellence, safety, and long-term asset performance.
What You’ll do:
Lead Facility and Non-Routine Maintenance Programs (60%)
• Execute methodologies and tools of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
• Ensure the correct maintenance strategy is applied to each asset, optimizing for reliability and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and implement predictive and proactive maintenance strategies tailored to each asset.
• Oversee the planning and execution of annual plant outages and long-term 1-3-5-7 year outage plans.
• Monitor and improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) using data-driven insights and supplier partnerships.
• Establish best practices for facilities maintenance, including structural, infrastructure, and utility systems.
• Manage the non-routine maintenance budget across the network and lead major repair/replacement planning.
• Ensure consistent execution of infrastructure and utility maintenance requirements.
• Collaborate with plant maintenance managers through dotted-line relationships to ensure alignment and consistency across the network.
• Support capital project development by:
• Signing off on equipment specifications for consistency.
• Integrating reliability tools into new equipment.
• Leading maintenance system development and training for new assets.
Champion Reliability and Continuous Improvement (40%)
• Serve as a change agent for maintenance reliability, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Identify and resolve barriers to success, collaborating across teams to drive results.
• Train and mentor leaders and maintenance teams in reliability tools and best practices.
• Build and lead a high-performing maintenance team through strategic hiring and development.
• Support corporate safety and quality initiatives through maintenance excellence.
• Lead network-wide training and asset strategy development to ensure long-term reliability.
• [New] Work closely with the HMOS (High-Performance Manufacturing Operating System) team to align maintenance standards with operational standards.
• Promote a service-oriented mindset, ensuring maintenance teams work in partnership with operations to solve problems collaboratively.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team that may include electrical controls SMEs and process experts, depending on evolving network needs.

What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other related field
- 10 or more years of experience in maintenance reliability
- 5+ years of people leadership experience
- Experience in engineering and manufacturing of highly engineered products in an industrial sector.
- Experience implementing Reliability Centered Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance.
- Experience in leading maintenance reliability teams
- Superior understanding of and expertise with Reliability Centered Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance.
- Ability to effectively role model knowledge and frontline leadership styles necessary for sustainable maintenance reliability.
- Demonstrated track record of leading significant change in a manufacturing environment and delivering measurable results.
- Well established interpersonal skills, able to influence and coach at all organizational levels to drive results.
- Demonstrated ability to constructively engage, negotiate, and resolve conflict and influence business leaders while building strong counseling relationships with senior leaders.
- Knowledge of project management issues regarding budget, timeline, or scope and how to bring to resolution.
- Demonstrated intermediate skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint,
- Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software as appropriate).
- Superior interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
- Ability to communicate financial and operating information to all levels across the business.
What You’ll Receive:
As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $148,900.00 to $193,600.00. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
