The Transportation Rate Audit and Compliance Analyst is responsible for auditing, maintaining, and analyzing transportation rates, managing invoice compliance, and supporting financial reporting and analysis.
Primary Objectives
- Audit, validate, and reconcile transportation invoices in compliance with contractual agreements and enterprise standards.
- Maintain and analyze rate data and carrier agreements in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to identify cost-saving opportunities and support pricing accuracy.
- Benchmark market rates for common lanes and routes to inform competitive pricing strategies and rapidly respond to quote requests.
- Prepare and present rate trend and spend analysis, forecasts, and related reporting on a recurring and ad-hoc basis.
- Administer and process freight and drayage invoices, apply appropriate financial allocations, and evaluate carrier charges to ensure alignment with contracts, agreements, and standards.
- Audit invoices for discrepancies, out-of-tolerance, unplanned costs, or EDI issues, obtain appropriate approvals and authorizations, resolve any issues, and submit for processing.
- Research, resolve, and respond to missing or outstanding invoice inquiries from carriers and service providers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date rate files for trucking, brokerage, and drayage services.
- Prepare monthly expense accruals and coordinate with Finance and Operations teams to ensure all monthly invoices are included and verified.
- Communicate and coordinate with suppliers to ensure accuracy of invoices and monthly close estimates.
- Provide supporting data and analysis for periodic financial reporting including budgets, forecasts, and KPI monitoring related business units.
- Collect, organize, and analyze real-time and historical data to support operational performance and financial objectives.
- Maintain and administer carrier and broker agreements including carrier onboarding, carrier insurance, and rate entry for rail and intermodal services.
- Respond to quote requests and routing changes and validate rate accuracy to prevent zero-rate or misrated shipments.
- Support continuous improvement and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience required
- 3+ years of related transportation/logistics industry experience with an emphasis intermodal rate administration required
- Strong understanding of domestic transportation logistics and processes including dispatching, equipment flow, and terminal operations.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations including multiplication and percentages.
- General knowledge of U.S. geography and time zones.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with excellent verbal, written, and proofreading skills.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and drive multiple projects to completion within required timeframes.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and lead by example.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a geographically dispersed team.
- Ability to identify problems, use logic and reasoning to review related information, develop and evaluate options, make conclusions, and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Transportation and Order Management Systems.
- Demonstrated intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Proficiency with Oracle Transportation Management highly preferred.

This role requires work that may involve the following environmental conditions:
