JOB SUMMARY
Assist Physician with patient examination and treatment, responsible for patient histories, routine diagnostic procedures, as well as some clerical duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate patient care.
- Preliminary work-up: history, chief complaint, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision, muscle movement, angle assessment
- Tonometry (Applanation, Tonopen, Icare).
- Diagnostic testing: OCT, Visual Fields, Fundus Photos.
- Administer drops under physician supervision.
- Take and explain tests, procedures, treatments, and diagnoses to patients.
- Maintain and stock all exam rooms.
- Clean and maintain all instruments.
- Assist physician in minor office surgery.
- Return and answer patient phone calls as needed.
Requirements
Technical Required Skills
- Visual Acuity
- Refractions (ideally experience refracting keratoconus patients)
- Tonometry-Tonopen
- Pachymetry-Ultrasound
- Dilation
- Testing (Pentacam, iTrace, OCT, Lipiscan, Schirmers, Tear Lab, lensometer)
- EHR system – ModMed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in an ophthalmic/optometric practice.
- CITI certification to work on clinical trials at the acceptance of a job offer
- Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Reliability and dependability.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office.
