JOB SUMMARY

Assist Physician with patient examination and treatment, responsible for patient histories, routine diagnostic procedures, as well as some clerical duties.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate patient care.
  • Preliminary work-up: history, chief complaint, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision, muscle movement, angle assessment
  • Tonometry (Applanation, Tonopen, Icare).
  • Diagnostic testing: OCT, Visual Fields, Fundus Photos.
  • Administer drops under physician supervision.
  • Take and explain tests, procedures, treatments, and diagnoses to patients.
  • Maintain and stock all exam rooms.
  • Clean and maintain all instruments.
  • Assist physician in minor office surgery.
  • Return and answer patient phone calls as needed.

Requirements

Technical Required Skills

  • Visual Acuity
  • Refractions (ideally experience refracting keratoconus patients)
  • Tonometry-Tonopen
  • Pachymetry-Ultrasound
  • Dilation
  • Testing (Pentacam, iTrace, OCT, Lipiscan, Schirmers, Tear Lab, lensometer)
  • EHR system – ModMed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in an ophthalmic/optometric practice.
  • CITI certification to work on clinical trials at the acceptance of a job offer
  • Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Reliability and dependability.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office.
