VCU's Office of Grants & Contracts Accounting has an exciting opportunity for a Cash Compliance Coordinator to join our team!

Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Cash Compliance Coordinator position involve supporting the post-award administration of grants and contracts through cash compliance activities, some of which include:

  • Processing and recording incoming checks and deposits
  • Researching payments for application to appropriate account
  • Managing the G&C Cash mailbox and responding to inquiries
  • Running and reviewing daily and weekly check reports from the Reporting Center
  • Daily distribution of clinical wires to team members
  • Collecting and maintaining W-9 information for revenue refunds
  • Assisting with routine reconciliations and documentation of cash transactions
  • Collaborating with Clinical Trial Finance Office on key operational processes
  • Providing customer service to departments and sponsors regarding payments and disbursements
  • Creating and updating process documentation for cash team operations
  • Other duties as assigned

This position performs detailed work in support of a team environment, collaboration with other university offices, and high-quality customer service. The Cash Compliance Coordinator ensures that payments and cash activity are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with federal, state, and sponsor requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial transactions
  • Positive, flexible attitude – Ability and desire to be trained in VCU’s Grants & Contracts Accounting model
    of work
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize work and establish reasonable priorities
  • Demonstrated reliability and strong attendance history
  • Technical proficiency including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort with financial
    management/reporting systems
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a university business office, sponsored programs, or financial services setting
  • Familiarity with Banner Financial System or other enterprise financial management systems
  • Previous experience with check processing, banking forms, or cash handling procedures
