S3, Inc. is seeking an Engineer or Scientist to support the PEO Aviation team on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. 

This position is contingent on award of contract.

The Utility Helicopters Project Office (UHPO) is responsible for the comprehensive life cycle management of the Army’s utility helicopter (UH) fleet. The UHPO manages multiple phases of acquisition, development, production, modification, recapitalization, sustainment, and foreign military sales for the UH 60 Black Hawk Helicopter. In addition, the UHPO is responsible for the acquisition and management of the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH). The UH 60 Black Hawk mission is to protect and sustain the force by providing air assault, general support, command and control, and aero-medical evacuation capabilities.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide technical advise for UHPO Technical Management Division (TMD), Product Manager (PdM), Product Director (PdD), and Assistant Project Manager (APM) offices.
  • Provide technical advise on all major aircraft systems and subsystems for the following: Airframe, Avionics, Survivability systems, Flight controls, Aeromechanics, and Propulsion
  • Develop and deliver system derivative program documentation, including: Acquisition strategies, Draft Statements of Work (SOWs), Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Engineering drawings and specifications, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Cost estimates and programmatic reports
  • Support the development and application of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) in rotary wing aviation programs.
  • Apply the principles of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) to support system interoperability and lifecycle sustainment.
  • Collaborate across multi-functional teams, providing technical input, risk analysis, and recommendations for system design and lifecycle management.
  • Effectively manage assigned responsibilities independently while ensuring quality and timely results.

     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of experience.
  • Must have an active DOD Secret Clearance.
  • Army Aviation technical background with demonstrated experience supporting: H-60 (UH-60A/L/M/V, HH-60M Black Hawk) or UH-72 Light Utility Helicopter (LUH)
  • Direct experience supporting PEO Aviation and/or UHPO core systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of rotary wing technical requirements, processes, and system acquisition lifecycle.
  • Strong experience with MBSE in rotary wing applications.
  • Proven understanding of MOSA principles in aviation system design and integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and manage priorities across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse group of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
