Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for monitoring and maintaining security across assigned district locations, including SISD schools, administrative offices, support service facilities, and auxiliary sites. Key responsibilities include:
??? Surveillance and Monitoring: Actively observes site activities to identify and report suspicious behavior or unauthorized individuals on district property.
??? Security Enforcement: Ensures compliance with district security protocols by assessing and responding to potential safety concerns or problem situations.
?? Incident Reporting: Documents and communicates observations to appropriate personnel to support timely intervention and resolution.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
?? Access Control & Site Security
Secures and monitors entrance gates according to schedule or operational needs.
Patrols assigned SISD properties during day, night, and weekend shifts to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
Open and lock gates as required to maintain site security.
???? Campus Monitoring & Surveillance
Conducts periodic patrols of hallways and school grounds to ensure safety and compliance.
Observes and documents unusual or suspicious behavior, reporting unauthorized personnel and securing restricted areas.
Monitors students, parents, guests, and SISD employees to uphold district safety standards.
?? Reporting & Documentation
Maintains a detailed log of daily activities using the Duty Action Report (DAR).
Records incidents, behavioral concerns, and access violations in DAR and formal incident reports.
When assigned to satellite or auxiliary sites, all individuals and vehicles entering or exiting secured areas.
?? Emergency Response & Support
Assists law enforcement and emergency responders during incidents, providing relevant documentation via DAR.
Responds to problem situations promptly and appropriately, ensuring accurate reporting and follow-up.
?? Policy Compliance & Additional Duties
Adheres to all HISD policies and procedures.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
?? Supervision
Provide heightened oversight during afternoon and overnight shifts to ensure consistent security coverage and rapid response to incidents.
?? Flexibility & Coverage
Demonstrate adaptability by being available to cover alternate shifts when team members are unable to report to work, ensuring uninterrupted security operations.
?? Gate Management
Monitor and enforce gate schedules to ensure all gates are locked and unlocked according to established protocols, maintaining secure access to district properties.
?? Duty Action Reports (DARs)
Review and analyze daily Duty Action Reports to identify recurring issues, operational trends, and areas requiring corrective action or escalation.
?? Interagency Coordination
Collaborate effectively with local law enforcement, EMS personnel, fire departments, and emergency management agencies to support coordinated response efforts and enhance campus safety.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
1 year of prior law enforcement or security guard experience preferred. Experience is not required.
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
Must be a Level 2 Security Guard or be willing to obtain the certification.
Must be physically agile and capable of responding to emergencies.
Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
Effective verbal communication and active listening skills are essential.
Familiarity with:
Security vehicles (e.g., duty trucks)
Microsoft Office Suite (strongly preferred)
Office equipment (computers, copiers)
Microsoft Teams
Catapult EMS platform
Must be available to work:
Rotating shifts
Weekends and holidays
Overtime with short notice

*Salary is commensurate with experience *Minimum Salary $28,912 * This position requires on-site, in-person work and does not offer remote work options.
