Job Description Summary

The Development Writer completes various writing assignments that help execute the marketing strategies of the Development Revenue Streams. Each Revenue Stream helps raise funds for Bible translation projects by presenting donors with a different opportunity for supporting the work. This position also helps brainstorm and launch new strategies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support all projects with prayer.
  • Stay up-to-date on current department activities and campaigns.
  • Gather research and photography for various print and online projects.
  • Assist with writing and editing content, while varying writing style to meet project needs. Writing assignments may include project proposals and reports, executive summaries, white papers, newsletters articles, landing page text, blog posts, social media posts, announcements for internal newsletter, scripts (for calling campaigns, videos and radio spots), thank you letters and ads.
  • Brainstorm with the Development team to develop new strategies and campaign ideas.
  • Assist with other projects and tasks as requested.

Member Responsibilities: The following responsibilities apply to any employee who is also a member of the religious organization:

  • Partnership Development: Build and retain a team of prayer and financial partners that will sustain them during their entire Wycliffe ministry according to the Wycliffe Partnership Development policy.
  • Organizational Representative: Present the global ministry of Wycliffe and encourage interested individuals and churches to participate in this work. Maintain an exemplary standard of ethics and conduct that reflects biblical principles.

  • Spiritual Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ): Demonstrates desire and ability to support corporate Biblical and religious goals and participate in regular work-related spiritual activities without reservation.
  • A passion for writing.
  • A willingness to grow in written communications skills, learning the style used for fundraising pieces, as well as writing for the Wycliffe brand.
  • Comfortable collaborating with a team that includes remote members.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Writes clearly and compellingly.
  • Develops innovative approaches and ideas.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Google suite of products (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Hangouts, Google Chat) and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Vimeo).

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English or Journalism plus at least two years writing for publication; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Nonprofit ministry work or volunteer experience is also beneficial.
