Description
The Fabrication Supervisor leads daily fabrication operations through a strong, visible presence on the production floor. This role sets clear expectations, coordinates hands-on work activities and actively monitors team performance to ensure consistent achievement of production goals. The Fabrication Supervisor oversees department personnel, enforces company policies on the floor, and leads employee training and development.
Working within established production plans, the Supervisor prioritizes tasks, maintains schedules, and collaborates closely with the Fabrication Manager, Production Planner, and area leads to review progress and results. The Supervisor participates in daily planning, manages material and supply levels to prevent shortages, and identifies capacity bottlenecks to drive departmental performance in alignment with strategic and financial objectives.
The position is responsible for improving area 5S, ensuring full compliance with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards, and leading Quick Kaizen level Continuous Improvement projects. A hands-on leadership style is essential, including operating equipment when necessary to maintain workflow and support team success.
Key Responsibilities
- This position requires spending a significant amount of time on the production floor actively supporting team members, facilitating production workflow, maintaining cleanliness and organization standards, and resolving issues as they arise.
- Schedule and manage daily workflow to ensure production plans are completed on time and customer orders are delivered as promised.
- Compile, analyze, and maintain production performance data; provide accurate manufacturing information and respond to operational inquiries.
- Collaborate with the Fabrication Manager and cross‑functional teams to implement cost‑saving measures and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Enforce company policies and guidelines; address employee concerns by investigating issues, identifying appropriate solutions, and coordinating actions with Human Resources and the Fabrication Manager.
- Manage employee time records and process PTO requests to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with company procedures.
- Improve 5S in the production area, including developing area standards, autonomous maintenance and cleaning schedules; and ensuring they are consistently executed and sustained to support equipment reliability and workplace safety.
- Review and correct records in production and operational databases to ensure accurate, up‑to‑date manufacturing information.
- Support the Planning department by printing, organizing, launching in FabDB, issuing material to, closing and distributing work orders.
- Oversee and disposition MRB II activities to maintain product quality and deploy Quick Kaizen projects from MRB findings.
- Serve as a behavioral role model for all EHS standards, including 5S and workplace‑organization practices, plant rules, safety regulations, and the company’s Principles of Conduct and Action.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Ten years of experience in manufacturing.
- Ability to use shop math (ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals); ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret metal rule and basic measuring equipment
- Demonstrated project leadership capabilities, responsible for driving projects and project teams.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to ensure expectations are understood and met.
- Ability to mediate interpersonal disputes to achieve a fair outcome for all parties involved.
- Ability to manage complex schedules both personally and departmentally to ensure tasks are tracked and completed by deadlines.
- Ability to understand manufacturing processes and to read blueprints, specifications, Safety Data Sheets, and Work Instructions.
- Advanced PC skills including the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access), or specific programs required by individual departments.
- Experience with calipers and micrometers.
- Experience with CAD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with fellow employees.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and to clearly communicate information received in both written and verbal forms.
- We operate as an ITAR-regulated site and must comply with U.S. export control laws, which requires employees to be a U.S. citizen.
