Senior Staff Accountant
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This hands-on role will work closely with the Controller, CFO and leadership team, providing exposure to all aspects of accounting and financial management. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is eager to contribute to a well-established, successful company.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and workpapers.
- Contribute to the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accounting policies.
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger, depreciation schedules, and bank reconciliations.
- Assist with customer rebates and other reporting.
- Prepare and submit various state and local tax filings.
- Assist with transportation licensing and tax filing.
- Assist with risk management and administration.
- Provide backup support in transactional areas (A/R, A/P).
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a larger corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting theory.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems a plus.
- CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism.
