Reporting to the Operations Manager, the individual will be expected to support in ensuring an effective warehouse operation is established and maintained to meet all key performance indicators and exceed customer expectations.

Key Accountabilities 

  • Ensure a proactive approach to Health and Safety 
  • Proactively motivate the team to achieve daily and weekly KPIs, ensure deadlines are met and customer expectations exceeded.
  • Provide a responsive and professional service to customers and colleagues, ensuring all escalations are dealt with to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • Review performance of the team, using regular reviews and development plans.
  • Manage and maintain accurate process flows, work instructions and quality outputs. 
  • Ensure that all colleagues are fully trained and inducted, arranging refresher training where required and ensuring the Training Matrix is current.
  • Manage performance, attendance, timekeeping, overtime and sickness levels of individual colleagues, and action as per procedures.
  • Ensure effective communication throughout the operation, communicating planned requirements, providing information on performance, company news and procedures.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be reasonable required for the effective management of the operation. 
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with key stakeholders across the Wincanton Dedicated Grocery business.
  • Foster positive Union relationships.

Skills and Experience 

  • Able to provide and understand the need for a high standard of customer service.
  • A proactive, flexible and “can do” attitude to resolve issues and challenges. 
  • Able to manage and motivate a team to achieve results.
  • PC literate and numerate, with a minimum of a basic understanding of Microsoft Office as required. 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills. 
  • Possess a positive attitude and the ability to suggest methods of improvement, being actively involved in improvement techniques. 
  • Ability to use IT systems in accordance with training provided. 
  • Strong operational knowledge. 
  • Flexibility is required regarding shift patterns.
