- Evaluate children aged 0–3 with developmental delays, conduct assessments, and gather relevant information to determine eligibility for IDEA Part C early intervention services.
- Prepare detailed evaluation reports that include developmental milestones, strengths, and areas of concern to support the development of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP).
- Collaborate with families and Early Intervention Specialists to develop IFSPs based on identified priorities and child development needs.
- Provide guidance and expertise to team members in implementing outcome plans and effective intervention strategies.
- Deliver family-centered coaching and developmental services in natural environments.
- Participate in or facilitate joint home visits, team meetings, and reflective practice discussions.
- Monitor and adjust teaching and intervention strategies to ensure that services remain responsive to the needs of families and children.
- Plan, conduct, and participate in meetings, programs, and activities for parents, school district personnel, and community agencies.
- Compile and maintain documentation, files, and data related to evaluations, plans, and progress for children and families.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all applicable Board policies, ESIT procedures, HIPAA, and FERPA regulations.
- Compile and maintain up-to-date files and data related to evaluations, outcome plans, and intervention progress for children and families.
- Prepare written materials such as procedures, guidelines, and training materials to support the delivery of high-quality early intervention services.
- Collaborate with parents, local school district personnel, and community agencies to enhance service coordination and promote seamless support for children and families.
- Provide direct assistance to school districts (e.g. procedures, Part C services and regulations, transition, child find, models for intervention, screening, and assessments) for the purpose of delivering services which conform to established guidelines.
- Assist other personnel when needed to ensure an efficient and effective team.
- Utilize technology effectively, including proficiency in Google Drive, Outlook, Google Docs, Adobe, PowerPoint, and other relevant tools to enhance communication, documentation, and collaboration.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt, including the ability to utilize the ESIT DMS (Data Management System) for efficient data management and reporting purposes.

Meet one of the following pathway qualifications as required by DCYF for Developmental Specialists:
Pathway #1:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Special Education or Inclusive Early Childhood Education; or
Bachelor's degree and completion of an accredited program for Education of Children/Students who are Blind or have Low Vision (BLV), Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH), or DeafBlind (DB).
Pathway #2:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child and Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Development, Special Education; and
Completed courses in Child Development, Family Systems/Family Centered Practices*, Assessment & Evaluation, and Interventions/Curriculum Development*; or
Degree can be waived, with completed course work as outlined above and at least 4 years experience working directly with children with disabilities, and their families as a substitute for Family Systems/Family Centered Practices or Interventions/Curriculum Development.

If a candidate has relative expereince, but does not meet the qualifications of a Developmental Specialist as outlined above, then they can still be concidered for hire as a Developmental Associate (DA) if they have one of the following:
Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Child Development, Child & Family Studies, Child Life Studies); or
Equivalent of 90 quarter (60 semester) credits in a related field; or
Provisional Pathway: Currently enrolled in an ECE or related program with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) credits completed, including a Child Development course, and a written plan to complete the degree within three (3) years. Applicants qualifying under the DA pathway must work under the supervision of a credentialed DS per an individualized supervision plan.
Completion of ESIT's in-service training framework or the ability to complete it within the first year of hire.
Reliable personal transportation with appropriate automobile insurance and willingness to travel.
Experience supporting young children and families is preferred but not required. Candidates with backgrounds in early learning, childcare, preschool, early intervention, social services, or other family-support roles are encouraged to apply. Training, supervision, and mentoring will be provided for those new to early intervention.
- Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with IDEA Part C, family-centered practices, and coaching in natural environments.

- Paid once a month on the last working day of the month.
- Receives an average monthly gross paycheck based on the number of days and hours assigned to the work calendar (Sept 01-Aug 31) and placement on the salary schedule.
- A full work calendar for this position is 180 days and 8 hours per day. Below is an example of a gross monthly paycheck for a full work year:
- $4,479 (step 1/year 1) - $5,041 (step 5/year 5)

Salary Range: Step 1/Year 1: $37.32 per hour - Step 5/Year 5: $42.01 per hour
SUMMARY: The Developmental Specialist / Developmental Associate evaluates children with developmental delays, creates outcome plans, and provides direct early intervention services to families. This position focuses on fostering children’s development through family-centered intervention, caregiver coaching, and collaborative teamwork. The role builds upon family strengths by offering supports, resources, and services to promote overall child development.
This position is primarily remote and requires a productive home workspace located within Washington State. Travel is required, and all eligible travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with OFM guidelines and program requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, travel may be required to local school districts and program sites. Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 35 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
