Position Summary
BeVera Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Strategic Communications Specialist to provide communications support to OSBP outreach, digital communications, and stakeholder engagement activities for a federal small business program. This role develops messaging, manages web and social media content, supports public affairs events, and delivers metrics-driven reporting that enhances program visibility and mission impact.
NOTICE – CONTINGENT POSITION: This role is part of a pre-award candidate search for an upcoming federal government contract.
Strategic Communication Support Duties and Responsibilities
- Outreach Planning and Execution: Assist in the planning, organizing, conducting, and assessment of specific annual outreach events. Develop relevant, predictive, and periodic requirements for these events.
- External Engagement Support: Support the benefit assessment of outreach events and provide monthly written recommendations for OSBP participation in new non-DoD external events.
- Metrics and Reporting: Develop metrics to support the evaluation of outreach value and provide a semi-annual report of events attended.
- Authorization Documentation: Prepare and assemble all authorization documentation for OSBP engagements for review and approval by senior leadership.
- Industry Outreach and Coordination: Coordinate all OSBP speaking engagements and industry outreach events.
- Website Management: Manage all information on the OSBP internet website, including information management systems, site maintenance, and the timely update of all data and website links.
- Electronic Communications: Support existing electronic communications media hosted on DHA networks and servers, including web presence, visual displays, and social media engagement.
- Content Development: Coordinate and assist in the development of draft communications pertaining to small business matters.
- Stakeholder Communication: Conduct monthly communication with Small Business Programs participants.
- Written Production: Assist in the development and production of written communications, such as the annual Small Business Executive Summary, Newsletters, training, and marketing materials.
- Social Media Management: Recommend public interface sources, monitor, coordinate, and post relevant communications to social media networks (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Blogs) to disseminate information to the public.
- Web Content Strategy: Support the development of dynamic web content for small business stakeholders.
Requirements
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field. A Master's degree is highly desirable.
- Possess a minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic communications, public affairs, or a related role, preferably within a government or defense environment.
- Experience directly supporting small business programs or large organizational outreach initiatives is a significant plus.
- Experience supporting federal health or defense communications programs (e.g., DHA, CDC).
- Familiarity with 508-compliance standards for digital content accessibility.
- Working knowledge of project management tools and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate).
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and assess communication and outreach strategies and metrics
- Expertise in website content management systems (CMS), site maintenance, and updating data/links.
- Proficient in managing and leveraging social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Blogs) for professional outreach.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, Content, professional written communications (e.g., Executive Summaries, Newsletters, marketing materials).
- Data Analysis skill in developing and applying metrics to evaluate outreach value and producing detailed, periodic reports (semi-annual report).
- Experience in coordinating, organizing, and managing professional speaking engagements and outreach events, including authorization documentation preparation.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with secure government network environments (DHA networks/servers)
- Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to coordinate complex internal and external engagements, and work effectively with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.
- Meticulous attention to detail for drafting critical communications, preparing authorization documentation, and managing website accuracy.
- Ability to proactively recommend new public interface sources and propose recommendations for external event participation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple concurrent tasks (e.g., monthly reporting, event coordination, content updates) and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to draft clear, concise, and professional content for various audiences and media
- Ability to respond effectively to evolving communications needs and technology changes in dynamic web and social media environments.
