QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; master’s degree and/or CFRE certification preferred.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in philanthropy, with at least five years in major gift cultivation and closure.
- At least two years of supervisory experience with paid staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relationship management, and leading committees.
- Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising CRM systems (Raisers Edge, Virtuous).
- Excellent organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.
- Entrepreneurial, motivational, and customer service-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Strategic Leadership & Fundraising:
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies in collaboration with senior and division leadership
- Manage a personal portfolio of 125–150 donors and prospects, with annual fundraising goals of $500K–$1M+, utilizing face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and written communications to cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships.
- Identify, research, and qualify prospective major and planned giving donors through MarketSmart platform; ensure each has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Develop and implement donor retention, stewardship, and recognition plans, advancing donors toward major and planned gift commitments.
- Prepare case statements, proposals, presentations, and donor materials, including foundation grants and support documentation.
Team & Volunteer Management
- Supervise philanthropy team members and volunteers, providing leadership, coaching, and mentorship to achieve individual and team goals.
- Support fundraising efforts of high-level volunteers, board members, and senior staff in securing new and renewed gifts.
Donor & Community Engagement
- Build and manage relationships with local businesses, foundations, and community partners to secure major gifts and sponsorships.
- Be a visible presence at organizational events, including donor cultivation, public education, and fundraising events such as annual galas.
- Represent the organization in the community, advocating for its mission and values.
Data, Reporting & Process Improvement
- Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of donor activity in CRM systems (e.g., Raisers Edge, Virtuous); provide regular reports on pipeline activity and performance.
- Analyze benchmarks and trends, recommending adjustments to fundraising strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with clinical and program staff to identify opportunities for philanthropic support.
- Collaborate with Division Director of Annual Giving.
Other Duties
- Participate in department meetings and organizational initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership, adapting to evolving organizational needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is required to sit for long periods of time. Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to type using a computer keyboard, visually read information off of a computer monitor and paper documents. Requires ability to orally communicate information over the telephone and in person and hear responses. Requires ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
LOCATION:
This position is a hybrid role that will be based in the Foundation area and will require travel throughout the Empath Health footprint.
