Position: Work Order Technician I

FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt

Location: Azle, TX

Position Purpose

Provide the highest level of customer service to all members with a special focus on new construction. This includes member requests for additional service, upgrades, and other related inquiries. The Work Order Technician operates as a collaborative, engaged, and responsible team member, ensuring interactions reflect the cooperative's core values.

Job Dimensions

  • Internal Responsibility – Schedules appointments for staking technicians, works closely with internal teams to facilitate a smooth work order process. Exhibits coachable and collaborative behaviors, contributing to a positive and high-performing team environment.
  • External Responsibility – Handles member inquiries in person and by phone regarding existing and new accounts with empathy, trustworthiness, and a humble, service-minded attitude.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Manage and maintain documentation related to work orders and member information in a reliable and organized manner.
  • Draft clear and communicative letters and emails regarding information for new construction.
  • Engage with members regarding specifications, project status, service requirements, costs, easements, and other items necessary for extending service-approaching each interaction with empathy, responsibility, and resilience.
  • Schedule appointments for field services technicians to meet with members, ensuring efficient and trustworthy coordination.
  • Prepare cost estimates for projects while demonstrating accuracy, responsibility, and transparency.
  • Ensure all applications, easements, project costs, locates, permits, and data entry are completed thoroughly and timely before construction-demonstrating reliability and attention to detail.
  • Obtain notary public certification within 90 days of employment, reflecting a commitment to continuous improvement and being coachable.
  • Review and schedule pool plan applications efficiently and with engagement.
  • Coordinate meter base sales with the warehouse, maintaining clear communication and collaboration with multiple departments.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Education – High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience – 1–2 years' experience with work orders. Utility experience preferred.
  • Certification/License – Valid Texas Driver License.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Commitment to ongoing learning that supports the cooperative's goals-demonstrating a coachable and engaged mindset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Excellent time management, communication (both oral and written), and interpersonal skills to build trust and maintain effective relationships. Ability to physically perform the duties described, including standing, walking, bending, lifting 75–100 pounds, and working in a physically active environment-demonstrating resilience and responsibility.
