Position Summary:
Gather, organize and analyze financial data in a pre-underwrite fashion for conventional -FHLMC, portfolio and HELOC loans from initial set up until the file is cleared for closing. Requires the ability to understand the guidelines and be able to compare the loan file against guidelines to effectively process the loan request without errors. Ability to maintain a pipeline of 40-50 loans to provide for 20-25 closings per month. Maintains a positive attitude and conducts business in a professional manner. Assured that all members, employees and visitors are treated with consideration and respect and are responsible for meeting production levels set by USF Federal Credit Union.
Essential Functions & Additional Responsibilities:
- Validates the application is complete, meeting credit union guidelines and standards. Opens files and orders required 3rd party documents for all loan requests. Gathers, analyzes and submits all data and documents related to the loan application including, income assets, liabilities, employment and all required third party documentation/reports which include but are not limited to appraisals, title, insurance etc. to the underwriter for final approval. Completes any underwriting conditions and coordinates loan closings.
- Proactively creates and maintains a close communication relationship with all parties involved in the mortgage transaction to ensure timely fulfillment of documentation requirements within prescribed timeframes. Answers mortgage applicants’ questions and return phone calls and electronic communications in a timely manner according to established performance standards.
- Maintains thorough notes on every file in the Loan Origination System.
- Monitors pipeline daily to ensure files are adequately reviewed according to established performance standards and timeframes.
- Responsible for accurate and compliant re-disclosures of loan amount, term, rate, and closing costs.
- Records data on pipeline, including number of new applications, pull through, approvals, canceled, withdrawn and denied loan requests.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- A high school education or G.E.D.
Experience:
- 1 year of mortgage processing or closing experience
Other Skills:
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook.
- Automated Loan Origination System experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a high level of organizational skills, analytical skills and be able to multitask
- Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
