SUMMARY: While delivering innovative solutions, exceptional service, and trusted results, the Education and Occupational Training Navigator (EOTN) is responsible for providing guidance and support to customers in navigating educational and training opportunities, which includes offering referral and enrollment services to ensure participants access the appropriate programs to meet their career goals. The EOTN will also maintain a full understanding of the local DC labor market and public- and private-educational systems to provide informed recommendations ensuring customers are connected to the most relevant resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Network, develop, and nurture relationships with DC Government agencies, community-based public, private, religious, and non-profit organizations to remain knowledgeable of the breadth and depth of educational and occupational training (EOT) programs that help TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) recipients increase their knowledge base and upgrade their skills.
- Working closely with Career Agents, the EOTN will explain the scope of the EOT programs available to the customer, while encouraging and facilitating customer enrollment in the appropriate program.
- The EOTN will be responsible for troubleshooting issues that may arise at organizations where TANF customers are engaged and that impact continued participation.
- Develop internal education and training processes in alignment with the EOT strategic plan.
- Identify customer-specific EOT opportunities for customers.
- Identify, implement, and facilitate internal short-term in-demand training opportunities to be offered on-site.
- Assist customers in the enrollment process for local training education.
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. The degree requirement may be substituted for eight (8) years of professional work experience.
- Experienced with TANF workforce programs highly preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer literacy required, including effective use of the Internet, e-mail, video conferencing (Zoom, Teams) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
