We are looking for an I/E Technician Sr. to join our Acrylic Acid and SAP team in Freeport, TX.

The Petrochemicals division is the starting point of BASF’s petrochemical-based value chains throughout the regions. The division manufactures and markets a broad portfolio of high-quality basic chemicals and tailored specialties for internal and external customers.
We are seeking a professional like you to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for Instrument and Electrical equipment in the Utilities, Waste Treatment, and Super Absorbent Polymers plants. This position is responsible for performing daily tasks as part of a team to ensure safe, productive, reliable, and cost-efficient maintenance of plant equipment and facilities. In addition, this position provides field level support for reliability efforts, innovation, and continuous improvement.
During your shift as a I/E Technician Sr., you will
Leverage your experience and education in the instrument and electrical fields to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring reliable operation.
Execute all assigned tasks efficiently and with a strong focus on quality to minimize rework and downtime.
Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety and housekeeping by maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Accurately document repair history, job feedback, and work details in SAP, including time spent, materials used, and status updates.
Collaborate closely with supervision and planners to provide feedback on job plans, procedures, and task lists to enhance clarity and execution.
Participate actively in reliability and continuous improvement initiatives, including Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs), identifying recurring issues (“bad actors”), and proposing innovative solutions.
Uphold precision and attention to detail in all maintenance, documentation, and communication tasks to ensure operational excellence.
If you...
- Have a 2-year Instrumentation/Electrical degree with 2+ years of equivalent industrial I/E experience OR possess a high school diploma (or GED equivalent) with 5+ years of industrial I/E experience.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret schematic drawings—including pneumatic loops, relay logic diagrams, PLC programs, motor control circuits, and P&IDs—and associate circuit symbols with real-world components such as solid-state electronics and industrial electrical hardware.
- Can analyze complex problems, identify and implement effective solutions, and anticipate the consequences of proposed actions to support operational goals.
- Have working knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Safety Instrumented Systems, applying them effectively in day-to-day tasks.
- Are proficient in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to document, communicate, and manage technical information.
- Meet the physical requirements of the role, including regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally handling bulky or awkward equipment, while maintaining the ability to safely perform all essential functions.
Note: You must be able to participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
