Systems Engineer – TS/SCI Clearance Required

Location: Aurora, CO (On-site)
Clearance: Active TS/SCI (with ability to obtain Polygraph)
Employment Type: Contractor or Contract to hire (W-2)
Pay: $125,000 - $150,000 w/ full Government benefits


About the Program

This position supports one of the premier programs within a leading Air & Space Defense Systems division, contributing directly to the development of advanced satellite mission management and command-and-control systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will play a key role in defining system behavior, validating performance, and ensuring mission readiness through the full engineering lifecycle.

This opportunity offers a chance to work alongside multi-disciplinary engineering teams and technical leaders to drive innovation across mission-critical space and defense systems.

This role is 100% on-site in Aurora, Colorado.


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support system definition, requirements analysis, and verification and validation activities for a next-generation satellite ground system. The selected candidate will help define system behavior, interfaces, and test processes, ensuring all requirements are clear, traceable, and validated against mission objectives.

This role requires a strong understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements decomposition, and interface definition, with the ability to collaborate effectively across software, test, and operations teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical analyses to define system functionality and operational use cases.

  • Decompose and manage system requirements, defining interfaces and verification methods.

  • Support test planning and execution, including process development, baseline definition, and test architecture design.

  • Participate in verification and validation (V&V) activities, ensuring traceability across all system requirements.

  • Support regression testing and continuous integration across deliverable releases.

  • Collaborate with program leadership and attend technical reviews and engineering interchange meetings.


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).

  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or related technical disciplines.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Operations concept development

    • Requirements management and decomposition

    • Functional analysis and synthesis

    • Interface definition and control

    • Verification and validation (V&V)

  • Experience in Satellite Command & Control, Mission Management, or Mission Planning.

  • Experience using Agile toolsets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.).

  • Experience supporting government contracts or defense-related programs.

  • Active and transferable TS/SCI clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

  • Ability to obtain a Polygraph post-hire.


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; proven collaboration in team-based environments.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle processes and best practices.

  • Experience managing requirements in DOORS or similar databases.

  • Exposure to DevOps/DevSecOps environments using Agile methodologies.

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation or data analysis.
