Description
The Mechanical Engineer working in a R&D/Pilot production facility is typically responsible for supporting the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of process equipment and systems while assisting in production optimization and documentation tasks.
- Assist in the setup and configuration of pilot-scale manufacturing equipment and production lines.?
- Work with the contractors/local county personnel to procure permits prior to equipment installation.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and equipment recommendations for production and process improvement.?
- Support testing and validation of process technologies, including the analysis of samples and data collection from pilot runs.?
- Help troubleshoot mechanical issues encountered during operation and participate in equipment maintenance activities.?
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review design modifications and process changes needed for scale-up.?
- Document findings, draft technical reports, and maintain logs of pilot studies and production activities.?
- Prepare 3D drawings, technical documents, and bills of materials as needed for new or revised system components.?
- Participate in training sessions for operators and presentations summarizing pilot study results.?
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.?
- 5-10 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Knowledge of mechanical testing methods and standards.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with a diverse team and present technical information clearly.
- Some hands-on experience (internships or coursework) in manufacturing or process engineering is helpful but not always required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and other applications
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.?
