About the Role 

We're looking for a Business Analyst to join our growing product team in a hands-on, ticket-focused role. This position is perfect for someone looking to build their career in product management while making a real impact on software that's used by accounting professionals across the UK, Ireland, and Australia. 

As a Business Analyst, you'll be the bridge between our development teams and business stakeholders, with a primary focus on writing detailed, actionable user stories and tickets that drive our product forward. This role offers fantastic exposure to the full product development lifecycle in a market that's experiencing significant change and growth. 

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Write clear, detailed user stories and acceptance criteria that development teams can execute effectively 
  • Break down larger product requirements into manageable, actionable tickets 
  • Collaborate with the product owner to translate business requirements into technical specifications 
  • Work closely with UX/UI teams to ensure user stories capture the intended user experience 
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and refinement sessions 
  • Support quality assurance by defining test scenarios and acceptance criteria 
  • Gather feedback from internal stakeholders and help prioritise feature requests 
  • Maintain and update product documentation and user story backlogs 
Day-to-Day Activities: 

  • Create and refine user stories in our project management tools 
  • Collaborate with development teams during daily standups and sprint activities 
  • Work with customer success teams to understand user pain points and feature requests 
  • Support the testing process by validating that delivered features meet acceptance criteria 
  • Participate in product demos and stakeholder meetings 
  • Research competitor features and industry best practices 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Requirements: 

  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail 
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) 
  • Analytical mindset with ability to break down complex requirements 
  • Interest in or experience with B2B software, particularly SaaS platforms 
Desirable Experience: 

  • Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria 
  • 1-3 years of experience in product management, business analysis, or similar role 
  • Background in accounting, finance, or working with professional services firms 
  • Experience with project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar) 
  • Understanding of software development processes and technical concepts 
  • Previous experience in the accounting software or professional services technology sector 
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements in accounting and auditing
