The Social Transformation Research Collaborative (STRC) has two remaining years of grant funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and DePaul intends it to be a signature initiative of the University and a national model for supporting interdisciplinary scholarship in African/Black Diaspora Studies, Latin American and Latinx Studies, Global Asian Studies, and Critical Ethnic Studies. The STRC also intends to be a model for providing essential support to faculty and students, who can diversify the academy.
What You'll Do:
- Manage Operations and Budget
• Schedule meetings and conduct email and phone correspondence on behalf of the Collaborative and the Co-Directors and the STRC Steering Committee.
• Facilitate communications among and between members of the Collaborative, as well as serve as liaison with other university offices and external parties (such as newly admitted students); record meeting minutes.
• Manage the application processes and field inquiries for the various fellowship programs (postdoctoral, faculty, student).
• Maintain and preserve records of the Collaborative, including documents, correspondence, budgets, and lists of expenditures.
• Maintains the hiring, on-boarding/training, and supervision of the STRC’s Student Assistants.
• Oversee the logistical coordination for all elements of the Collaborative. - Coordinate Communications and Publicity
• Maintain the STRC website.
• Network with target audiences and respond to comments and inquiries across social media platforms.
• Work with the Co- Directors to build relationships between the Collaborative and humanities and cultural institutions.
• Build and maintain a photo and video archive of STRC activities.
• Design and produce both print and web-based promotional material for the Collaborative, including fliers, slide decks, social media, and quarterly e-newsletters. - Event Planning & Coordination
• Assist in the planning and coordination of Collaborative events such as the Summer Institute and Fall Conference, and on-campus visits of invited speakers or postdoctoral applicants.
• Manage logistics: location, menus, audio and visual equipment, and RSVP management.
• Manage travel arrangements for STRC participants and processing of honoraria, as necessary. - Assist with Program Evaluation
• Collect and assist with analysis of evaluation data from STRC programs and events. - Manages the Collaborative budget with the PIs.
- BA required, Master’s degree a plus. We are especially interested in candidates with degrees in and a demonstrated enthusiasm for the humanities.
- Program support and program documentation experience desired.
- Budget-management experience required; grants management experience preferred; ability to manage internal BlueSky/Oracle budgeting system a plus.
- Program-evaluation experience, such as collecting and managing survey data (DePaul uses Qualtrics) and qualitative data.
- Administrative experience and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate in both academic and community settings and to adapt communication style to multiple audiences.
- Demonstrated proficiency with content management systems; basic understanding of HTML for SharePoint editing.
- Advanced competence with basic visual design tools, such as Canva and PowerPoint; other document design and/or video-editing desirable.
- Experience with developing organizational networks, through in-person and social networking. Knowledge of the landscape. of humanities and cultural organizations in the City of Chicago is highly desirable.
- An understanding of and interest in the university’s Vincentian identity and community-engaged mission.
- Occasional meetings and events will happen off-campus in locations around Chicago.
