General Statement of Job
The role of Event Logistics Technician involves providing immediate assistance to the Custodial Logistics Supervisor in coordinating event logistics, managing supplies, ensuring smooth event operations, and contributing to the overall event experience and custodial duties. This position will play an important role in ensuring that events run efficiently and seamlessly from start to finish.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the coordination of all event logistics, including transportation, equipment, and vendor management.
- Support in setting up and breaking down event spaces, ensuring all materials, equipment, and décor are in place and functioning properly.
- Help maintain and monitor event schedules, ensuring all timelines and deadlines are met throughout the planning and execution process.
- Track and manage event materials, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all items are accounted for and available when needed.
- Provide immediate on-site assistance, solving any logistical/custodial issues that arise during events.
- Ensure that all event setups adhere to safety and regulatory standards, maintaining a safe environment for guests and staff.
- Help with post-event breakdowns, cleanup, and store equipment/furniture.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least one (1) year of event logistics experience, preferred.
- Experience with event management software, preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player within department and with others.
- Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation or College-owned vehicles.
- Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to apply practical understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Security Sensitive position: All applicants are subject to a criminal background check under South Texas College policy.
- In addition, subject to a federal background check.
- Must have or qualify for a valid Texas driver’s license, proof of liability insurance, and be insurable under South Texas College’s insurance policy for driving.
- Must maintain authorization to drive College-owned vehicles.
Physical Requirements
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

- Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.

- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.
- Sitting particularly for sustained periods of time.
