Interconnections Planning - Project Support Analyst
Location: 241 Ralph McGill, Atlanta GA (GPC HQ) or proximity to partner organizations
Travel: Up to 25%

Job Summary
The Project Support Analyst (PSA) conducts project cost analysis and project lifecycle monitoring for interconnection projects affecting Georgia Power Company. The PSA will work with Transmission- and Distribution-focused Interconnections Planning (IP) team members, as well as other partner workgroups, to ensure accuracy of relevant aspects of capital projects. These efforts culminate with the overall goal of ensuring that the Transmission Organization meets its budget and related compliance requirements.
Job Responsibilities
The primary role of the Project Cost Analyst is to support the IP team’s workload related to cost reporting and variance analysis for assigned projects:
- Support timely, accurate accounting and reporting efforts of project costs associated with generator interconnection upgrades
- Maintain knowledge of related project cost components (e.g. indirect company overheads, engineering, construction, etc.)
- Interface with financial-related teams (such as Revenue Accounting) to correct errors.
- Interface with policy and regulatory teams to properly allocate project costs between GPC and other stakeholders, in accordance with company and Georgia PSC-approved guidelines
- Review and assist developing cost reports and analysis summaries as needed for reporting requirements.
- Track project status from origination through budget approval
- Assist providing a level of training and oversight of supplemental workers as well as providing assessments of work quality and deliverables.
- Assist with administering the GPC Qualifying Facilities Interconnection process
- Assist with administering the GPC Affected Systems Interconnection process
Education Requirements
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Business, or Accounting) preferred
- Alternatively, 2-year Associate’s Degree in those disciplines with 3 years related experience preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience is preferred
- Project Cost/variance analysis experience is preferred
- Experience with Transmission (Line and/or Substation) design and construction processes, or other heavy construction processes, is highly preferred
- Experience with contract administration, Budget Change Authorization (BCA) process, and computer-based job costing preferred.
- Experience with Southern Company’s software, including Transmission Estimating and Management System (TEAMS), Maximo, and Oracle preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Analytical and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Knowledge of job cost techniques, methods, and procedures.
- Computer literacy in corporate Microsoft Office applications is required
- Ad-hoc report writing skills using Power BI or other report writing tools is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, time-management, and creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and can communicate effectively at all levels including external public.
- Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
- Functions effectively in a team environment with diverse disciplines and backgrounds as a leader or contributor.
- Ability to communicate ideas in both a technical and user-friendly language
