About this Role
Join us as a critical part of our growth in the Southeast region. As a Technical Lead/Manager, you will lead a team of 7–15 engineers designing and delivering automation, process control, and building automation systems for customers in manufacturing, life sciences, and critical infrastructure.
You’ll work hands-on with your project team to define system architecture and develop design specifications while coordinating programming, testing, and system startup. You will also serve as a technical mentor and a key partner to project management to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and mentor a technical team, ensuring delivery of high-quality automation and control solutions.
· Partner with Project Managers to build accurate schedules, budgets, and reports, and identify and mitigate risks while driving on-time, on-budget delivery.
· Engage with customers to understand business drivers, define requirements, and translate them into User and Functional Requirements.
· Oversee design, programming, testing, and commissioning activities across multiple projects and enforce best practices and company standards.
· Develop and review factory and site acceptance test documents in alignment with GAMP and customer requirements.
· Support sales and marketing efforts by promoting team capabilities and company expertise.
- Perform test planning and development of factory and site test documents meeting GAMP and customer requirements
- Support for our sales and marketing organization, evangelizing all the great work your team and the company does.
- Develop ongoing relationships with customers, contractors and other stakeholders to build a mutually beneficial rapport.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Automation Systems: Hands-on experience in the design, implementation, and commissioning of PLC/SCADA-based building automation and process control systems.
- Government Projects: Experience working on government-funded or regulated projects, including compliance, reporting, and oversight.
- Safety Systems: Proven ability to design and implement Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) that meet SIL2 requirements, including hazard analysis, safety lifecycle management, and verification.
- Leadership: 2–7 years managing automation projects and technical teams; demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and coordinate multi-project delivery.
- Industry Expertise: Experience documenting, testing, and deploying control systems in life sciences and/or critical infrastructure environments.
- Startup/Commissioning: Direct, first-hand experience deploying systems into production environments.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
- Professional Skills: Exceptional problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills with customers, vendors, and project teams.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 30%.
Technical Skills
· PLCs: Allen-Bradley Logix family (required); Schneider, GE, and Siemens (preferred).
· Rockwell PlantPAx expertise (required).
· DCS: DeltaV (a plus).
· SCADA: FactoryTalk ViewSE, Ignition, Aveva System Platform & InTouch, GE.
· Historians: OSI PI, FactoryTalk Historian, or equivalent.
· Data & Reporting: Web portal development, dashboards, KPIs, reporting tools.
· Programming & Databases: SQL (MS SQL/MySQL), Python, Java Script.
· Productivity Tools: Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
