Job Purpose & Scope:

Creates, documents, and maintains Corporate Risk Management’s data infrastructure, databases, metrics, and critical data sets in partnership with Corporate Risk Management directors, senior leaders, data scientists, and business unit managers.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Develops ETL (extract, transform, and load) pipelines, calculates metrics, and creates critical data sets for the Bank’s Risk Management functions by developing an understanding of all of Bank’s critical data sources.

  2. Works with large and complex data sets to build ETL pipelines, metrics, and mission critical data sets.  

  3. Assists in the conceptualization and execution of Corporate Risk Management’s data architecture and infrastructure. 

  4. Designs, builds, and launches complex data models to support advanced analytics and reporting. 

  5. Optimizes essential SQL queries and data pipelines. 

  6. Assists other Data Engineers in the Risk Management team by providing peer reviews, code reviews, and additional feedback, when necessary. 

  7. Partners with Data Science in the Risk Management team to create stable, scalable data pipelines and identify key data elements and related data quality rules. 

  8. May travel on company business to support lines of business and data efforts. 

  9. Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.

  10. Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work.

  11. Follows Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of scripting programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, etc.) and SQL. 
  2. Knowledge of software development best practices, data modeling, and ETL. 

  3. Knowledge of the financial services industry.

  4. Ability to prepare written deliverables and presentations for board and management committees, senior leaders, and business unit managers.

  5. Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.

  6. Ability to demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, initiative, and problem-solving skills.

  7. Ability to partner effectively with multiple business groups, corporate areas, auditors, and regulators.

  8. Ability to operate and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment, with exacting deadlines.

  9. Ability to manage multiple work streams and deliverables, and coordinate across functional initiatives. 

  10. Ability to travel as needed for business purposes.

  11. Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Basic Qualifications:
  1. Master’s degree, in computer science, economics, finance, data science or related quantitative field, or commensurate work experience, required. 

  2. 1+ year of programming experience in SQL, required.

  3. 1+ year of experience in at least one scripting language, required. Python experience, preferred.
