Job Summary
Creative and hands-on CNC Machinist skilled in CAD design and production of custom parts and assemblies to create fixturing, stamping tools, injection molds and small parts. Leverages CAD, CAM programs and various CNC equipment to produce specialized tooling to assist in the assembly of jewelry and/or plastic injection molding.
*The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Builds prototypes and/or small batches using CAD/CAM and CNC with limited detailed drawings or blueprints.
- Utilizes sketches, pictures and general concepts, to draw CAD parts and assemblies to create fixturing, stamping tooling and injection molding for small parts.
- Creates 3D CAD models and utilizes CAM software to generate toolpaths and able to CNC machine those parts.
- Takes initiative and completes projects from CAD to part including inspection with minimal supervision.
- Interprets various measurement equipment such as micrometer, caliper and height gauges.
- Operates typical machine shop equipment including, but not limited to mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders and saws.
WHAT IS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years’ experience in CNC machining process development working with 3-Axis, 3+2 Axis, 5-axis milling and CNC Lathe.
- 3 years of CAD/CAM experience developing machined components, fixturing and/or tooling.
- Experience in hands-on fabrication for tooling assembly.
- Understanding of key metrics and parameters associated with the design of manufacturing processes for machined components.
- Demonstrated technical depth in the analysis and development of solutions for manufacturing process challenges.
- Experience with creating the support and documentation of machine process and validations.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to safely lift up to 25lbs routinely with appropriate equipment and/or assistance.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and/or extended hours as business need requires.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited technical institution with an Associate Degree in machining technology.
- CAD experience in developing machined components preferably in a prototype and/or small batch environment.
- Expertise in Fusion360 CAM Software.
- Expertise in Solidworks CAD Software.
- Experience in Solidworks PDM software.
- Experience in Plastic Injection Molding.
- EDM programming and operation experience.
