Position Summary: The Volunteer Manager at Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is responsible for developing, coordinating, and sustaining a robust volunteer program that supports the organization’s mission to build affordable housing and strengthen communities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Planning and implementing volunteer recruitment, training, retention, and placement to meet the volunteer needs of the organization.
- Ensuring effective volunteer communications and recognition.
- Managing on-line volunteer registration, database, and survey systems.
- Supervise the work of the Volunteer and Development Coordinator, interns, and/or office volunteers.
- Tracking and reporting volunteer participation.
- Planning and implementing annual volunteer recognition event.
- Scheduling and leading online and in-person volunteer orientations.
- Leading presentations to corporations and civic organizations to recruit volunteers.
- Working collaboratively with house sponsorship team to meet volunteer needs for each house build.
- Regular visits of construction sites to evaluate volunteer experience and promote Atlanta Habitat.

Requirements
- Able to interact well with diverse groups and facilitate group workshops.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to meet deadlines with strong attention to details.
- Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP and Office (Excel, Word, TEAMS and Outlook). Database management skills are necessary. Experience with volunteer management tools such as VolunteerHub and Salesforce CRM preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Fields of study can include business, non-profit management, public relations/communications/marketing or similar fields.
- Minimum of two years supervisory / management experience.
- Minimum of three years experience in volunteer management.
- Experience with managing special events preferred.
Responsibilities:
Volunteers
- Work with staff members throughout the organization to identify and meet volunteer needs.
- Recruit volunteers to support Construction, ReStore, Family Services, office and other needs.
- Plan, schedule and implement volunteer orientations for individuals and groups.
- Lead South Fulton volunteer strategy for recruitment and training as we expand into South Fulton.
- Maintain on-line volunteer database.
- Manage volunteer registration and group reservation systems, including maintenance, upgrades, and interface with donor database.
- Plan and coordinate annual training for volunteer skilled supervisors (VSS). Expand VSS program recruitment and training to meet increased demand for weekday builds.
- Plan and implement the volunteer recognition program, including an annual volunteer recognition event.
- Maintain and utilize on-line volunteer survey tool, following department guidelines. Work with Partner Engagement Director to compile quarterly and annual reports from survey data and disseminate to appropriate staff.
- Prepare quarterly and year-end reports summarizing volunteer participation and feedback.
- Develop an annual plan for volunteer education, communications, and training.
- Recommend and implement volunteer policies and procedures.
Sponsor Relations
- Serve as a liaison with sponsor volunteer coordinators before, during, and after each build. Communicate build schedule and logistics and on-line registration information. Solicit weekly feedback. Offer guidance on recruiting and organizing volunteers and serve as a liaison between construction house leaders and volunteer coordinators.
- Visit construction sites regularly to evaluate volunteer experience and promote Atlanta Habitat.
- Support house dedication needs, including set-up and photography.
- Coordinate volunteer lunch arrangements, as needed.
- With appropriate staff, support planning and implementation of major build projects (i.e. milestone builds, blitz builds).
- Support the Sponsorship team by attending visits to prospective sponsors, as requested.
Supervisory
- Supervise the work of the Volunteer and Development Coordinator.
- Supervise the work of interns as needed or requested.
Other
- Provide support and assistance with donor recognition events and other special events.
- Work with the Partner Engagement Director to review external event proposals for appropriateness.
- At the discretion of the CEO or the Chief Development Officer, represent Atlanta Habitat at events of interest in the Atlanta community.
- Manage volunteer budget and other line items as requested by the Chief Development Officer.
- Work with the Development team to help ensure department meets all goals.
- Participate in Development Department team meetings.

This position is classified as a full-time exempt. Regular Saturday (average 2/month) and occasional evening work is required. Occasional driving around the City of Atlanta and South Fulton County is required - candidates must have a reliable vehicle and a valid drivers’ license. Hybrid work schedule available.
