General Description and Classification Standards
This is an experienced, seasoned level position in providing information and assistance to the public, including customers, constituents, and other parties, in person or by phone, email, or written correspondence, including difficult or challenging issues or resolving issues with difficult customers. Determines nature of problem or request and responds or directs individual to correct resource. Duties include but are not limited to investigating and resolving complaints; assisting customers, preparing reports and documents: and providing information.
Supervision Received:
Works under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. May set work sequence or priorities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Drives delivery vehicle over prescribed routes and adheres to daily route scheduled and delivers items such as timely collection and distribution of mail and packages and conducts various errands such as employee transportation, bank transactions, and special assignments to support the Department of Aviation, City Hall Offices, and throughout the city in a safe manner; performs basic vehicle maintenance tasks
- Conducts pre/post inspection of equipment according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Budgets time and plans routes in advance for maximum efficiency; performs various other assignments as needed.
- Individuals entering this level must already possess the basic knowledge of the work and the required motor skills and physical capabilities to carry out basic tasks.
- Ensures equipment meets safety requirements by maintaining scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs.
- Reports any mechanical problems associated with equipment/vehicle as appropriate.
- Completes service request forms to request vehicle repairs.
- Ensures that all duties assigned on the daily task sheets are completed and necessary reports are submitted upon job completion.
- Prepares, generates, completes, and receives various forms, reports, daily logs, maintenance records and other documents and forwards as appropriate.
- Follows all safety precautions necessary in operating equipment in a safe and efficient way.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be courteous and dependable in operating equipment.
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of job-related machines at level requirements for active work.
- Must be able to perform physical labor as well as move or carry related objects or materials.
- Ability to effectively use customer service software and other departmental information systems in responding to inquires or written and verbal communication to convey or exchange professional information.
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, plans and activities.
- Ability to read and interpret street maps to reach correct destinations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members.
- Ability to make independent judgments in absence of supervision.
- Ability to acquire and expound on knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
High school diploma or General Equivalency Dipolma (GED) 2 years of work
experience in customer service at the level of Customer Service Representative.
Preferred Education & Experience
Same as minimum.
